Secondly I could very easily go to a place like the "Niceguy" forum" and pull qoutes from men who identify themselves as MRA's that would also make any sane persons blood curdle.

Wow, Devia.

And would you consider those blood-curdling MRAs to be "leaders of the MRA movement"?

Or would you be pulling from the fringes?

The quotes above are from respected leaders in the feminist movement. Ones with published books and articles and awards.

Comparing the two is ridiculous.

Howabout a knight in full armor lying in a puddle and a princess walking across his back.

And underneath it: "Screw Chivalry"

I'd like to point out that in Transporter II, I think the rich couple were separated. Obviously she had been doing some gatekeeping, however.

It is interesting that the rich guy was portrayed as a bad person in a number of subtle ways - he doesn't know his son's favorite sport, he seems to care more about his career than his wife (which is why he is rich, but that's beside the point), and he doesn't just go out and bust some ass, but instead relies on the authorities like a "girly-man".

The first movie was SO MUCH BETTER.

Maybe now that she has found Christ, she can find forgiveness for what she has done to society.

I think the key is not to approach the subject from the viewpoint that there need to be different standards for the different genders, but rather that there needs to be a recognition of the fact that different genders learn in different ways.

Boys are in a highly feminized environment in public school: recesses have been cut back or even dispensed with, the mode of work is cooperative, sit quietly, listen, discuss... all traits at which women seem to excel (well, maybe with the exception of listening ;-). Boys can't cut this kind of inactive stuff, so they are dosed with ADHS drugs until they can sit quietly and not cause a ruckus.

I think we need single-sex education. In one stroke, I think this would help alleviate a number of problems we have with the co-ed system, and it would allow educators to teach in the manner best suited for their pupils.

I usually frame it in terms of equality:

It's about making sure that there really is equality for everyone - equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome.

And then explain what that means - that we should all have the same chances and be judged by our own actions.

Which is really what it all boils down to, doesn't it?

I'd just like to say that the other day I ran into some of those fake reviews on another men's book at Amazon. Wish I could remember the name. Anyway, I checked out the reviewer's pages for a number of posters, and on one of them I found either the person's name or email, or maybe it was just their nickname, can't remember that either. So I googled it, and found a posting on another board somewhere, and it turns out it was a completely organized attack. They had the book linked from the forum and were asking members to go leave bad reviews and vote up the reviews that were already there.

See, next time, I need to remind myself to cut-and-paste all the information down.

However, as so many have already pointed out, all the activity and activism is just making more publicity.

Wow. I have to agree.

This kind of electronic interaction is how the young males of our time are learning, because it's not being taught in schools. Information wants to be free, because if no one knows it, it has no future value.

The internet gives me hope, because in such a vast and complicated world, it is important to be able to communicate with the enthusiasts, to be able to dive into a subject like men's rights, or bagpipery, and to be able to learn so much in such a short time. It's not beaming learning directly into your head, like in the Matrix, but such a resource for self-education has never ever been around, and it's only getting better.

Such a book as described above would simply be the refinement of the collective wisdom created here. The next step, standing on the shoulders of those who had come before. And thank god the resources exist to even make an idea like that possible.

I think it is very sad that the congress passes laws that address the rare exception of abusive men.

Unfortunately, our government has a history now of pandering to the very smallest of minorities. No-fault divorce? I'm sure it has helped a few battered women. Never mind that in the process it has destroyed the traditional family.

Last weekend my daughter's girl scout troop had a special Cookie Kickoff Event at the local Science Center.

Yes, yes, I'm well aware of the contempt that most MRAs hold for Girl Scouts, but I am on good terms with the leader, and I fully support scouting as an ex-scout myself.

In any case, during the planetarium portion, the guy giving the speech was talking about the first men on the moon. "And one of you girls," he added, "may be the first woman to walk on the moon."

Okay. No problem.

Then, he continued, "And speaking of college, you have to go. You have to do the best you can. Don't let any boys stand in your way."

Why boys? Why not "anyone" or "anything"?

At this many of the girls started cheering. Then obnoxious young teen girls who were sitting behind me and had talked loudly through the whole show started making comments like, "Boys stink" and "Girls rule".

I wanted to say something, but by the time I thought of something that was calm, collected, and understandable, the moment had passed.

I want to be quicker on the draw.

I think this is a setup.

Someone infiltrates F4J, has a few SMS/IM/Email exchanges in jest or speaking hyperbolically, and then go to SY and leak that there is a plot to kidnap the PM's son.  They then use their own exchanges as proof.  Considering Blair's tendency to bend the truth when it comes to Intelligence, I have profound doubts.

...snip...

I gotta tell ya, I just don't trust the government at all anymore...

No surprise. Let's see, the US government used that same tactic on the American Indian Movement, the Black Panthers, SDS, and every other movement that came out of the 60s/70s. Infiltrate, set up, then arrest.

It's been done before and it will be done again. I sure wish our governments were honest, and interested in the welfare of people instead of just themselves.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT - 18th January 2006
Fathers 4 Justice Suspended by Leader - Campaign to close if Necessary

F4J leader Matt O'Connor announced last night that he was suspending the operations of the group pending enquiries into allegations contained on the cover of this mornings Sun Newspaper that 'extremist sympathisers' associated with the group had planned to kidnap the Prime Minister's Son, Leo Blair.

F4J say they condemn any such action unreservedly and that the group is increasingly having it's name 'hijacked' by a growing number of militant extremists and that it would seriously consider the long term viability of the campaign.

The group say that ex members have reportedly been in contact with the Anti-Terrorist Unit SO13 from Scotland Yard who said that activists would be shot on sight if engaged in any protests in Westminster.

Said O'Connor 'After peacefully campaigning for three years to ensure children get to see their fathers, we condemn any individual who planned this appalling outrage which is anathema to our campaign.'

'I have three young boys myself and couldn't think of anything more traumatic for Mr Blair, his family and his son than what is reported in this morning's Sun newspaper, however we should approach the story with caution as it carries very little information in it.'

'If the Police have enough information they should not only release the names of those involved but prosecute them. This kind of coverage unravels all the good work we have done over the last three years, though I despair that the desperation of fathers only reflects the intransigence of the government to address the crisis in family law.'

'If our position is constantly undermined by extremists, we will shut down the Fathers 4 Justice campaign.'

'I will not let this organisation be hijacked by militants and I ask all fathers to respect our commitment to peaceful non violent direct action no matter how aggrieved they feel about their treatment at the family courts.'

So yes, the Sunbitch gets revenge, but at least it is only suspended for now, not disbanded.

Still, that's bad enough.

Of course, as AngryHarry says, this is the logical next step... they're paying STRONG attention to the men's/father's rights movement.

This is awesome!

Now it is completely clear that no-fault-divorce is actually the road to creating a class of dependent, impoverished citizens.

Of course, we know that's right in line with feminism's unspoken goals, but I will be sharing this as conversation around the water cooler with a lot of people in the near future.

"Can you believe those crazy feminists? They gave us no-fault divorce so that you can just walk out of a marriage for no reason, and now we see that it's the fastest way to destroy your net worth! Not to mention creating all those (shh) broken families..."

Hee hee. Can't wait.

So, in Japan, you marry the devil woman, slave for her for 35 years, and then she divorces you when you retire and leaves you poor and alone and unhappy.

Well ... at least you had your illusions during those 35 years.  So you were happy.  I guess.

Men have their illusions; women have the money, without as much work.  Sounds like a fair split, everone is happy for a while.  I mean at least you "got her" back when she was good-looking 30 years ago.  That should at least be worth a lifetime of toil, even without the illusions.  The holy gold-lined vagina is YOURS (well at least partially yours if she has an affair or two)!!!

True. Here in America you only have to marry her for a few months and she gets it all. It's very charitable of these women to wait for so long, suffering.
