I know this has nothing to do with gender issues, but the second I saw the title of this story I sprayed my monitor with coffee!!

BERLIN - A German inventor said he has developed a method to produce crude oil products from waste that he believes can be an answer to the soaring costs of fuel, but denied a German newspaper story implying he also used dead cats.

"I use paper, plastics, textiles and rubbish," Koch told Reuters.

"It's an alternative fuel that is friendly for the environment. But it's complete nonsense to suggest dead cats. I've never used cats and would never think of that. At most the odd toad may have jumped in."

In the last two days there have been concerns about generalizing when making statements about women and feminism. What I want to do, if Dr. Evil doesn't mind,  is have a discussion about how this can be avoided or not misconstrued as bashing women.

Are we really like gender feminists in such as we demonize women? Do women in todays society inherantly embrace feminism and the perks feminism has entitled them? How does this effect that feminism has on society impact the mens movement and should we allow it to divide us?

My intention here is to clear this matter up, I know Dr. Evil is very serious about his policy and will enforce it. What I am concerned with here is that there are no misunderstandings, that we don't turn people away and turn people against each other from a good cause over something only a gender feminist can benefit from. I think we are smart enough and together enough to get past this issue and remain a group of people fighting for the same cause.

The 14- and 16-year-old boys were bouncing the golf ball in a shopping center parking lot Sunday afternoon when it went astray and struck the SUV driven by 47-year-old Kathy Feaganes Allen, sheriff's Deputy Greg Suchy said.

No damage was done, and the boys apologized and began to walk away, Suchy said. Allen started to drive away, but suddenly made a U-turn, ran over a median and struck the teens before knocking over a light pole, Suchy said.

"I tried to run. I blacked out. I woke up bleeding," Justin Marshman, 16, told The Florida Times-Union.

"She charged them. This was the most deliberate act," witness Russell McPhee said. "After she ran them down, she got out of the car and lit a cigarette like a movie star."

I was suffering from television dogma last night, my wife and daughter had on this stupid ass program where someone is given a make-over from this outfit because a friend submitted her name in retrospect to her fashion tragedies. The theme is done where two friends and a fashion expert pick the person apart about her clothing etc. Then they go out and shop for her and in the end she picks one out of three fashion sets bought by each, the two friends and a fashion expert. The whole fricken show there was nothing but "divorced super mom",,,over and over and over. The first friend who is female said "I am concerned because your fashion statemnt is a statement to your daughter and how she views women and herself, you are letting me down as well as letting your daughter down", and so the themes, every outfit, came a comment of "Well, that is a nice come hither outfit and it still says MOM". I have problems with this shit on many levels, one, lets cut the crap that a woman cannot be a woman without the tag MOM on everything woman, that is totally a pile of horse dung, there is no need to make fashion statements that your 4 year old approves of. I understand that looking like a dumpster queen or a slut may be a problem, but come on, this woman wasn't either. The idea of "You have to make a statement that you're a super mom" means bullshit, that person would no longer be a friend of mine and would quickly become "persona non grata" on my list of who's who. Nothing about that show has squat one to do with oppression, divorce, parenting, morality, none of it. Why the fuck they need to keep harping on the "Overworked Supermom" bull escapes me, overworked how? I saw her apartment, she isn't lower middle class, she isn't NEEDY. WTF? Why can't they just say "Divorced woman who is headed for the dating scene again"? What place does overworked and supermom have in a fucking fashion show???

DJ, ranting, complete with coffee intake.

This shit never ends, does it? Why should she get extra time that no man gets?

Frances Newton, 39, was convicted in the 1987 shooting deaths of her husband and two children, ages 20 months and 7. Prosecutors said Newton killed her family to collect $100,000 in insurance benefits.

...The parole board recommended delaying her execution for four months so her attorneys can conduct new ballistics tests on the pistol prosecutors said was the murder weapon and chemical analysis on the clothing she was wearing.

...About 50 women are on death row in the United States.

I was watching the tube last night, wish I could remember the channel but I can't. Anywho...there was this sort of infomercial on teen sex, different scenerios that surround teens and the choices they could make, and the consequences of the ones made. They showed a series of things from the gay relationships, boy to boy...and aids. They showed a girl having oral sex with a guy who uses needles and the risk that she may have contracted the aids virus that he has. Then, they show the innocent girl who had sex with the guy at a party...man..what a farse..like that is the only scenerio ever to be displayed. It turns out the girl gets pregnant and of course the guy wont have anything to do with her the day after. They show the guy telling her she is beautiful and feels something for her and she buys it like Clinton choking down a Big Mac, jumping in feet first.

Do you think this is the only version, or the most popular version out there? I don't. They go through the motions of her having to get an abortion and all. I understand that the message is out there for girls to be careful, but the scenerio where the guy is seduced, wants the child and the girl says fuck off, or is trapped into supporting a child that isn't his is NEVER the situation. They only show the guy being a selfish one way ignorant mean spirited son of a bitch who thinks with his dick. I get sick of seeing it, not that it doesn't happen but there are SO many ways to show the downside to one night stands without protection or using more constraint that tired old scene. Any thoughts?

Just thinking of that movie with Robin Williams. I used to do that on the intercom at work first thing in the morning. You should have seen the look on their faces the first time I did it.  :P

The New York Times said the following in an editorial:

Reports out of Nevada and Oregon indicate that a company paid to register voters for the Republican Party may have systematically destroyed registration forms filled out by Democrats. If so, thousands of voters who made a good-faith effort to register may not find themselves on the rolls on Nov. 2. Intentionally destroying voter registration forms is a crime against the heart of democracy. The allegations should be vigorously investigated. The immediate concern is ensuring that criminal actions by partisans do not disenfranchise any eligible voters.

A former employee of Voters Outreach of America has come forward to say that he saw the company, which was being paid by the Republican National Committee, destroy Democrats' registration forms in Nevada, while it was handing in forms filled out by Republicans.

The Oregon attorney general's office has opened its own criminal investigation into allegations that Voters Outreach may have destroyed voter registrations there. A public library system in Oregon has said that it barred the firm from library property after finding that it had misrepresented itself as being nonpartisan.

Nathan Sproul, a Republican political operative who heads the consulting company that hired Voters Outreach, attributed the reports of destroyed registration forms to a disgruntled former employee. He said the firm had a "misunderstanding" with the Oregon public library.

Destroying voter registration forms is not merely an ugly political trick; it can be a felony. The Department of Justice, and the states of Nevada and Oregon, should quickly and thoroughly investigate these allegations, and look into any registration work being done by Voters Outreach and Sproul in other states. The charges should be pursued wherever they lead. Since the Republican Party was paying the bills, questions should be asked about what instructions it gave for its registration drives, and what it knew about the alleged malfeasance.

It is vital that no eligible voters be denied a ballot because their registrations were destroyed. The Nevada Democratic Party has, quite reasonably, sued to extend the voter registration deadline. If the Nevada and Oregon registration deadlines are not extended, those states should announce that they will accept late registrations from any eligible voters who submit affidavits saying they filed registration forms with Voters Outreach canvassers.

No matter what, voters should show up to vote. If they are not on the rolls, they should insist on their right to a provisional ballot. If the election turns out to be as close as poll suggest in both states, people who voted provisionally will have a chance after Nov. 2 to insist that their votes be counted.

The subject has been brought up that suggests we have a seperate board for members who are only interested in debate and nothing else, a place where "More serious" members can go.

Also, there has been a suggestion made to have a seperate area called "The Mat" where members argue out disagreements rather than ruin or derail threads.

Vote and tell us why, if you'd like.

Main / Andy Rooney Speaks Out to America!
Jun 30, 2004, 09:38 AM
Would you have the 'batezum' (balls) to make this statement?  Hooray for Andy Rooney.

Andy Rooney said on 60 minutes a  few weeks back: (for those of you that don't know Andy Rooney, he is a 82  year old US TV commentator.)

I like big cars, big boats, big  motorcycles, big houses and big campfires. I believe the money I make  belongs to me and my family, not some governmental stooge with a bad  comb-over who wants to give it away to crack addicts for squirting out  babies.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a  killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is  trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy  Scouts for a reason, that is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in  the Girl Scouts!

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a  phobia, it is an opinion.

I don't think being a minority  makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think  of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College  Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America.  Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine,  White

Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what  happens. Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

I have the right "NOT" to be  tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities  where
70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling, it  is the Law of Probability.

I know what sex is, and there are  not varying degrees of it. If I received sex from one of my subordinates in  my office, it wouldn't be a private matter or my personal business. I would  be "FIRED" immediately!

I believe that if you are selling  me a milk shake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must  do it in English!

As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you  should have to speak English!

My father and grandfather didn't  die in vain so you could leave the countries you were born in to come over  and disrespect ours. I think the police should have every right to shoot  your sorry self if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you  can't understand the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above  lines.

I feel much safer letting a machine with no political  affiliation recount votes when needed. I know what the definition of lying  is.

I don't think just because you were not born in this country,  you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank  loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket  store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of  certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their  freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our  constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor. I know pro  wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you  from watching them.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made  and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next  operating system that's better, and put your name on the building. Ask your  buddy that invented the Internet to help you.

It doesn't take a whole village  to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid;  and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say "NO!"

"I think tattoos and  piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a  political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I  don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me fries!

I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black  people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be  "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around  saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great,  great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and  nowhere else.

If you don't like my point of view... tough. DON'T PASS IT ON!!

Have a nice day and be  good!

Main / Newbies and SYG etiquette.
Jun 08, 2004, 09:52 AM
Hey! I thought I would make this thread seeing that there is an issue going on in another thread about crossing the lines with generalizations and grouping people into a negative category. There was mention that new members should take it slow. I am new here so I thought I would get a few things cleared up and out of the way, maybe this thread will be informative for other newbies and lurkers who would like to become members.

What do you think is proper etiquette for newbies and how much time should pass before excercising the liberties regulars do? Is it a time thing or a number/quality of post thing? I would like your thoughts on this.
