I went to Haiti after the earthquake to empower Haitians to self-sufficiency. I went to remind them of the many great contributions that Afro-descendants have made to this world, and of their amazing resilience and strength as a people. Not once did I envision myself becoming a receptacle for a Black man's rage at the white world, but that is what I became. While I take issue with my brother's behavior, I'm grateful for the experience. It woke me up, made me understand on a deeper level the terror that my sisters deal with daily. This in hand, I feel comfortable in speaking for Haitian women, and for myself, in saying that we will not be your pawns, racially, politically, economically or otherwise.
Man hangs himself after being falsely accused of raping women and children
Last updated at 09:57am on 21st March 2008
A man who lost his job after being falsely accused of a horrific sex crime has been found hanged in a shed.
Ian Adams, 51, was suspended and then sacked from his job at a local IKEA store after his employers received a letter saying he had raped a woman and her two children.
The writer claimed to be a journalist on a local newspaper, but the name and address in the letter were false and the author has never been traced.
Police confirmed that Mr Adams, from Highams Park East, London, had never been arrested or convicted of a sexual offence or had any complaints made against him.
Mr Adams' life went downhill as he struggled to recover from the accusations.
He failed to get his job back after being sacked in January. His drinking led to problems with his partner and he spent the last few nights of his life sleeping in a storage shed at the bottom of the block of flats in which he lived.
A neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: "If it wasn't for that letter he would still be here, I am sure of it.
"He was happy and full of himself when he was working, he was more or less dancing on his way to work. But he went from working all day to doing nothing.
Ikea claimed that it had only suspended him from the premises until Symonds had carried out an investigation, while Symonds claimed that it had no choice but to let him go because Ikea would not let him work on its premises.
This rather dramatic change of heart encapsulates one of the great ironies of Hillary Clinton's bid for the presidency. Many of the very same feminists who were her most ardent supporters as First Lady are now fiercely opposed to her historic bid to become the first female President of the United States. The woman once described by Susan Faludi as a symbol of "the joy of female independence" now evokes ambivalence, disdain and, sometimes, outright vitriol. The right wing's favorite "femi-nazi" now has to contend with Jane Fonda comparing her to "a ventriloquist for the patriarchy with a skirt and a vagina."

We have the Power to call forth the God King in our men and Create them in our WOMBS if we don't see them in our father, husbands and friends. We will never ascend back into the immortal state of existence until we reach within the Walls of our Vagina to retrieve this Power. Until we act from this premise we will continue to be sucked dry of the Divine Nourishment in our Vagina Walls that men feed off of every time that they taste us and penetrate us with a Lie.
ORLANDO -- A woman was charged with aggravated child abuse for putting her baby in an oven, turning it on and leaving her apartment after fighting with her boyfriend, police said.
The oven had not gotten hot enough to burn the child, whose age was not immediately available.

Sharlyn Singh, 29, was at the Orange County Jail on a $15,000 bond Tuesday.
A man who was helping Singh's boyfriend move out of the apartment Monday heard the baby crying and walked into the kitchen. He told police that he asked Singh where the baby was, but she did not answer and walked out of the apartment. He found the baby in the oven, police said.
Officers that answered the call reported seeing oven grease on the child's hand and clothes.
Police did not release the boyfriend's name and his relationship to the child was unclear.
It was not immediately known if Singh had an attorney.
You'll never read this, little girl, but...
I grew up an only child. I had friends, but sometimes they weren't around. I had both parents and we went places and played often. But I enjoyed listening to my radio and coloring in my Spiderman coloring book in my room as much as I enjoyed playing with my friends or parents. I learned early on how to enjoy myself when I was alone. Not that way you sick monkey...well, at least, not yet.
It also meant that when someone left, it wasn't a huge loss. A friend would move away, I would miss them, but it wasn't devastating. An uncle would die, I would be sad, but it didn't bring the world to a screeching halt.
As I grew into adulthood I began to treasure my time alone. Again, I had friends and we would go out and drink, hit on women way out of our league, and laugh about it later, but I enjoyed reading in my apartment listening to music alone as much as I enjoyed going out.
Girlfriends came and went until I met your mother. She had the most beautiful legs I'd ever seen. We met at work and dated secretly for six months before we didn't feel like hiding it anymore.
We got married four years later. Then you came along a couple of years after that. There has never been anybody in my life that I couldn't live without. I don't think it's a psychological issue (but crazy people really don't know their crazy, do they?) Even if my beautiful wife left or died, I'd be despondent for some time, but life would go on. I never needed anyone before...until you.
You were so noisy and bothersome that for the first 6 months of your life I begged my wife to let me sell you on the black market. You were cute and had all your fingers and toes so you would have fetched a hefty sum; enough to put a nice down payment on a new house. But your mother just looked at me with daggers shooting from her eyes and I would slink out of the room. Damn her.
Then one day...it was close to my birthday, I was holding you and I made a funny face and you laughed. It was all downhill from there. I began to love you. And it only got worse as time went on. No one in my life has ever gotten in as far as you have.
My favorite time is bed time when we've finished reading "Where the Wild Things Are," and "Guess How Much I Love You" and I turn out the light and get the covers snuggled up under your chin. I kiss you on the tip of your nose and tell you, "I love you, big girl." And you say, "I love you too, daddy."
I get choked up every time I hear that. I'm glad the lights are out.
How I wish to God I could keep you this age, but I know that you'll eventually become a teenager, and may very well break my heart. That's okay; it's yours to break.

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - The wife of a Banning High School teacher was convicted of killing him in their San Pedro home by stabbing him in the eye with scissors.
Jurors on Tuesday found Nancy Larios, 56, guilty of murdering Luis Larios, 59, for financial gain, a special circumstance making her eligible for the death penalty. Superior Court Judge Arthur Jean immediately sentenced her to life in prison without possibility of parole.
The Larios marriage had been troubled for years, investigators said. On Aug. 22, 2004, the couple was watching television and drinking brandy in an upstairs bedroom when Larios said she was annoyed with her husband for playing with his beard.
She used duct tape to strap him into an office chair, hit him in the head with what may have been an iron and jabbed scissors into his eye, prosecutors said. The blow and the stab wound were both fatal injuries, the coroner said.
Mrs. Larios then dragged him downstairs to make it appear that he fell, and spent anywhere from half an hour to four hours cleaning up, bandaging his eye and attempting to call a priest, witnesses testified. She finally called 911 just before 1 a.m. on Aug. 23, 2004.
She told detectives she cleaned up his blood, urine and vomit because she didn't want a priest to see him like that, authorities said.
"I just can't tell you how happy I am about this verdict. She killed him off at the soul years ago," said family friend Emily White, who testified during the trial.
