Main / Internet activism lesson part 1

Why you should at all costs avoid posting full articles but just provide a quick summary of the article or alternatively a quote and a URL link if a viewer wishes to read further.

The Daily Mail zings ...
Harry

Is it my imagination or is the Daily Mail rallying to our cause? It seems to be doing a great job on Macca's wife and there is good antifeminist rhetoric to be found in it on a regular basis.

What say you?

J

Hi J

Well, it certainly does seem nowadays to publish quite a few articles that support much of what MRAs are saying, but I think that 'rallying' might be too strong a word. LOL!

My view is that the editor is probably becoming aware of the number of extra hits to his website that he might be receiving as a result of MRAs posting links hither and thither and that, as such, he is seeking to maximise his traffic by posting material that will likely interest 'such people' - which is, of course, his job!

The mainstream media are becoming far more aware of the threat that the internet poses and they are very sensitive indeed to where their website traffic is coming from.

And every hit on an article is a 'vote of interest' for its subject matter as well as a potential source of revenue.

As such, internet MRAs can do some good activist work simply by directing others to supportive articles on mainstream sites - rather than just copying the text and posting it up. Indeed, the latter will actually **reduce** the likelihood that supportive articles will be written by the mainstream because it will drain down the perceived interest factor as well as the revenue.

Before I aired the subject on this page I knew the statistics. Fifty per cent of all fathers lose touch with their children within three years of a family break-up. Being a mother, I assumed this meant a large number of men simply lost interest in their children over time, but you have taught me how the judicial system and the automatic bias of the courts towards the mother make it impossible for many fathers in our country to maintain a sustainable relationship with their children.

Discipline fears as female teachers outnumber male peers by 12 to 1

Teaching is fast becoming an all-female profession with women outnumbering men in the classroom as much as 13 to one, dramatic new figures revealed today.

There are also fears men are being scared away by the fear of false child abuse allegations while others are thought to be put off by the absence of male companionship in primary schools.

Perhaps some of you might remember New Zealand airlines stopping male adults from sitting next to children, well it appears that British Airways have the same policy.

Boris Johnson is a well liked MP in the UK. Do a search on youtube for him and if you enjoy his style of "humour" he'll have you in stitches.

By Boris Johnson

"Really? I said, not quite able to believe my luck. There we were, waiting for take-off, and I had just been having a quick zizz. It was a long flight ahead, all the way to India, and I had two children on my left. Already they were toughing each other up and sticking their fingers up each other's nose, and now -- salvation!

Hovering above me was a silk-clad British Airways stewardess with an angelic smile, and she seemed to want me to move. "Please come with me, sir" said the oriental vision.

At once, I got her drift. She desired to upgrade me. In my mind's eye, I saw the first-class cabin, the spiral staircase to the head massage, the Champagne, the hot towels.

"You betcha!" I said, and began to unbuckle. At which point, the children set up a yammering. Oi, they said to me, where do you think you are going? I was explaining that the captain had probably spotted me come on board, don't you know. Doubtless he had decided that it was outrageous for me to fly steerage, sound chap that he was. I'd make sure to come back now and then, hmmm?"

I found it on Angyharry's website. It says you could leave comments but I haven't noticed one posted all day.

Not sure if I have got it right in terms of effect but I sent this in:

"According to Home Office records, the annual number of child homicides in England and Wales has remained constant for almost 30 years, averaging one to two child deaths per week."

http://www.nspcc.org.uk/inform/publications/downloads/YouFeelLikeSummary_gf39737.pdf

You mention that research published by the NSPCC last month showed that a father kills a family member every eight weeks in the UK. That must mean that there are another 7 children murdered by Mothers and others for every 1 by a Father.

Do you not think the lives of these unaccounted for children are so unimportant that they are not worth a mention, just so you can demonise Fathers just a little bit more?

At Gloucester Crown Court Henderson was described as "a wicked liar" by the prosecution.

Henderson's anonymity was protected by an order under the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 because her complaint was of a sexual nature.

But Judge Lane lifted the restriction after the jury's verdict because he said the offence with which she had been charged - perverting the course of justice - was not sexual.

He told her: "There is a very high probability you will be going to prison."

Black women are "hugely responsible" for the family breakdown which fuels crime, MPs have been told.
Camilla Batmanghelidjh, of the charity Kid's Company, said men were usually seen as the "irresponsible" ones who got girls pregnant and "walked off".

But black women were also to blame as they had a culture of rejecting men and being "cruel" towards them, she said.

I'm no lawyer but reading between the lines both these women got sentences that man would ever get:

In the first it appears although she lied constantly because she was trying to get her man back it was ok to kill her child.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tyne/6076112.stm

This one got cut out of her Mother's will and managed to fain normality.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/southern_counties/6077140.stm

I may be overreacting but I don't recall ever seeing such petty excuses used to mitigate a male defendant, in fact I would go as far as to say that if a man did either of these crimes and offered the same "defence" the sentence would have been doubled.

Women PCs win right to bonus for working night shifts despite only working days

Last updated at 22:00pm on 20th October 2006

Two women police officers were yesterday handed the right to extra bonus payments for working at night - even though they only work day shifts.

The two officers, both working mothers, should get the extra money because their childcare commitments stop them from working anti-social hours, a tribunal ruled.

Peer names 'serial liar' whose rape claims sent an innocent man to jail
By David Brown

Women's rights groups fear that legal landmark will discourage victims from coming forward

A LABOUR peer yesterday named a "serial and repeated liar" whose false allegations resulted in an innocent man being jailed for a sex attack.
Lord Campbell-Savours used parliamentary privilege to name the woman during a debate in the House of Lords on rape legislation. He suggested that women who make false allegations of rape should be named and prosecuted for perjury.

It is believed to be the first time that the identity of a woman who claims that she has been the victim of a sexual offence has been revealed in Parliament.

Quote
Ruth Hall, of Women Against Rape, said: "Women are being targeted by the criminal justice system for bringing allegations of rape. It is a new development that we have seen over the past few weeks.

"There have been a number of women prosecuted for perverting the course of justice or having something added to their Criminal Records Bureau records because they have made allegations of rape.

"The system is institutionally sexist. We don't believe that any assumption can be made that a woman has not been telling a truth."

Drunk women protected

MEN who have sex with drunken women risk being found guilty of rape under proposals to increase conviction rates.
Ministers want to close a legal loophole which results in thousands of cases failing to reach the courts because the victims have been drinking.

At present, women are deemed to be capable of consenting to sex as long as they are not so drunk that they are unconscious.

However, under the proposals which could be announced as early as next month in the Queen's speech, it will be up to juries to decide whether the woman was sober enough to know what she was doing.

The move would have huge implications for couples who have sex after getting drunk, placing a heavy responsibility on the man to ensure that the woman was fully conscious of her actions.

A POLICE force that rejected 108 potential recruits because they were white men has admitted positive discrimination and agreed to pay compensation.
Gloucestershire Constabulary said that it had been trying to increase diversity with its policy of selecting women and candidates from ethnic minorities. But at an employment tribunal in Bristol yesterday, the force admitted that its actions were unlawful and agreed to pay compensation to one potential recruit. Further claims from the other 107 men, who were told by the force that they had been "randomly deselected", could now follow
