Don't shake her hand, gentlemen.  It's now considered battery.

Remember, she can do anything a man can, except when it suits her not to be able to.

Main / For those of us who are military
Jan 21, 2010, 11:13 AM
This is something I've been talking about in my unit for some time now, and as my next promotion approaches, I'm faced with the decision of how to handle this.

Tacking on.  In the Air Force, when an enlisted member gains rank, higher ranking individuals are traditionally allowed to punch the promotee in the arm, on the new rank insignia.  Some months ago a female in my unit gained rank, and I watched as man after man lightly tapped her on the arm.  I couldn't treat her to equality as she is higher rank than I am.  I'm considering, after I put on rank, telling people that if they tack me on harder than they did her, that I'll consider it at the least blatant, actionable sexism, or at worst assualt.  I'm not sure how to handle this, but I know I can't just accept the double standard.  What do you guys think?

Main / Science fair
Dec 02, 2009, 09:40 PM
My unit had the opportunity to take part in judging a science fair at a local elementary school today.  I noticed something near the end of my portion of the judging.  Of the twenty kids I had a part in judging, four of the six best were females.  The class was probably 60% male.

First place was still a male.

Main / Boy charged by buck

A 7 year old boy is charged by a buck during a game of football with friends.  A 9 year old boy fights it off with a stick.  A 9 year old boy, maybe 60 pounds, picks up a stick and defends his friend against an animal that easily weighs many times as much as he does.

I hope someone kneels down in front of that boy, puts a hand on his shoulder, and praises him for his very male (and successful) response to the situation.

Main / "Get over it!"
Oct 07, 2009, 08:34 AM
I was on the way to base this morning, listening to some radio show, the theme of which was 'get over it!"  The people running the show were taking calls from listeners who would air some gripe they had with someone and then tell that person to get over it.  Many of them were women telling men to get over various things.  One was a woman saying to her husband that she was divorcing him, and he needs to get over it.  She further said that the court date was today, and that the husband didn't know about it yet.  The one that really got me, though, being military, was one woman who said, "Our daughter's first word was mama, not dada, because you've been gone for six months. Get over it!"  I turned to my wingman and said, "Six months?  Where do you think he's been?"  My wingman just nodded, understanding that in San Antonio, a married male who is gone for six months is probably deployed.  Talk about a low blow.  :angryfire:

Main / In a custody case...
May 01, 2009, 02:46 PM
So a friend of mine is in the middle of a custody case.  I'm doing a little research on his behalf.  Aside from allegations of abuse and violence, what other tactics could a mother who is willing to lie and her lawyer employ that a father should look out for?

Introductions / Greetings
Apr 07, 2009, 06:06 PM
Howdy all.  I'm a 28 year old male in the military.  I have lurked here for a while now, and I've wanted to post on enough topics here that I figured it was time to sign up.  I know dr e will ask how I found the site, so, I'll tell you.  I found it because of TyphonBlue.  I was doing an image search for Typhon, and saw her avatar and was curious what it had to do with Typhon.  Thus, I found this site.  My thanks to her.

Greetings again.
