So you're saying that "stop-loss" is in effect right now?  Did I word that properly?

As I said, I don't know if there's any real proof to bear out what I said...I'm more than curious to hear it from the perspective of those in the service.  Thanks for filling me in. :)

Interestingly enough, I've heard (although I'm not sure if I can find any info to back it up, it's all been on talk radio) that the re-enlistment rate is higher now than ever before.

Doesn't necessarily have much to do with your particular point, but your point made me think of it.

It's a pretty easy solution Bender:  Don't read it.  It's not like the thread title said "BOOBIES HERE" and you were somehow tricked into reading this.

We've discussed politics here since the board's inception. Check the archives, see for yourself.  It's not up to you to dictate what's posted here, for you to attempt to do so is the very epitome of arrogance.

ETA:  Not that arrogance is necessarily a bad thing, you're just out of line.  We've got four mods on this board, I think they're more than capable of doing their job.  You've got your own space, police it however you'd like.

And again, if you don't like the topics posted, no one's forcing you to read them.

Link's dead.

I've heard the boy is actually very close to the age he portrays.  If this is so...I've got a problem with it.  BIG TIME.

I'll need to find an article about this before I give full judgement though.

Main / How 'bout them Pistons, Neb?

It's cool...whenever you've got time.

I'd like to see Lakers sans Shaq, but I know that's not gonna happen.  Damned contracts.  It will be interesting indeed.

I'm taking it fine, the better team won.

Lakers weren't playing like a championship team, therefore they weren't deserving of the championship.

Pistons earned it and earned it well.  I say good for them. :)

I could not watch that movie.  I got through about 30 minutes and had to turn if off.

It was like MTV on speed.

I realize I'm in the minority on this one, just couldn't get into it.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Is that the one with Depp and Del Toro?

Are you being intentionally obtuse?

You're the one who made it into a commodity issue:

Quote
This morning I woke up and thought immediately, it's because they are treating us like a commodity, not individuals. The point is the men: what bars want is the men and their money and the bars are willing to give us half off on drinks to get us there, because they think men will go where women are.

It's just like that busload of "cattle call" women coming into a fraternity party from a secretarial school that I saw in college. That's what the guy I was with called them. They had paid to bus the girls in, anyone who would come. I thought that was sad, especially since I knew one of the girls from my high school and we waved to each other.

So yeah, I think my points stand.

He should look elsewhere for a wife with similar desires as his.

If she entered the marriage (which is a contract) giving him the impression that she would indeed have kids with him, then later changes her mind, then she broke the contract.  He should react accordingly.

Again, no brainer.

And women have no responsibility at all for the fact that they're treated like sexual commodities?

Again, don't use this as an opportunity to shame men for that which is biologically preordained.

I'm 35 and *I* knew better at 19 than to spend my time at frat parties.  Young people today are far more moxy than I was at 19.  Are you really going to suggest to me that none of them had any idea whatsoever about what goes on at a frat party and went there thinking they were going to something akin to a church social?

Are you also going to tell me that none of the women on that bus engaged in any sexual activity while at that party?

Do you think these things would go on if men didn't have plenty of female partners with whom to carry on?

Yes, it's a damned shame that sex has been reduced to this.  Ask women why they give it away so easily...we've (women) had a huge hand in how sexuality is viewed today.  Stop blaming men for taking advantage of that which we are willing to give away to someone we've just met.

That saying about not buying the cow because you're getting the milk for free applies here.

Think about it.

Gee, I don't know...I'm one of those crazy people who believes that things like this should be discussed and decided upon before getting married.

This is a no-brainer.

Yeah, I can understand why you'd want to bail on a thread where you were called on your bullshit.

Have fun!   :)
