What about this:  If a woman dresses like a slut, doesn't she scare away nice guys who might help her when the bad guys hassle her?

Women almost always depend on the assistance of men in the vicinity when they are threatened.  If she's alone she'll be relying on strangers.  If she dresses in a way that says "I'm a stupid tart" then the men in the vicinity will treat her accordingly.

Maybe not perfectly ethical but this is real life isn't it?

Main / Re: Academic rumors of Matriarchy

So I've heard a few professors in my educational career stand in front of the class and mention prehistorical matriarchies. Most of them spend less than 30 seconds (if that) on the topic. They usually stick it in really quick and there is almost no reason to argue the point. Until recently i've not done so.

How depressing.  Feminists are like Creationists: their arguments get refuted multiple times yet they still carry on as if they possess the absolute truth.

I suspect staff and students in the hard sciences would just roll their eyes at this stuff.  Also historians and archeologists should know better (and anyone who's studied propaganda techniques).

I doubt that feminists would see the irony here: they have adopted the role of Catholic theologians arguing against Galileo, defending a limited and misleading view of the world.  Dare I mention the obvious parallels with the Inquisition (or Mao's Cultural Revolutionaries?)

Here's a story with a similar wtf perspective:

Pregnant woman rescued from storm after dog locks her out of car

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/pregnant-woman-rescued-from-storm-after-dog-locks-her-out-of-car/article1838081/

Highlights:
- freak early winter storm hits SW Ontario, southeast of Lake Huron
- hubby is a snow-plow driver waiting for her to pick him up after his 27 hr shift - he fails twice and gets stranded himself for another 12 hrs
- she locks herself out of her snowbound car, leaving her keys and phone locked inside
- she's six-months pregnant
- she gets rescued by patrolling (male) snowmobiler

THE ARTICLE IS ALL ABOUT HER (and no criticism) - WHY?  Shouldn't the wife of a snowplow driver be exactly the kind of person who should know how to handle herself in this kind of situation?

"a cultural fixation on female thinness is not an obsession about female beauty but an obsession about female obedience"

I think this is backwards.  The thin look was first popularized in the 1920s as part of the rejection of traditionalism and the embrace of modernism (including suffrage).  Women deliberately de-feminized their figures, trying to appear more "male", probably wanting to be taken more seriously in the work world and not be seen as a baby incubator.

The other emotional factors seem to be perfectionism, or adolescent self-loathing.

Here's a slightly different angle:

When controversy rears its head, sponsors run for cover

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/industry-news/marketing/when-controversy-rears-its-head-sponsors-run-for-cover/article1679069/

"The concern is that if things get nasty and things get out of line, a lot of consumers are going to connect the conversation with the brand. And that's somewhere advertisers really don't want to go."

In other words, if you really want to speak your mind don't expect any support from gutless advertisers.

Well-written, bachelor tom (as usual).

Thanks Cap

As a musician I've been part of the male population (artsy types) who don't usually fit the standard 'masculine' archetype.  I learned a long time ago that what ordinary women say they want (some kind of 'new age' guy) isn't really what they're looking for.

Artsy women maybe are more open to non-traditional relationships, but the typical barfly is depressingly predictable.  They still expect to be wooed in the traditional way using traditional games.  Feminism seems to have zero relevance in this context, except when the harassment or rape accusations kick in.

"12 Golden Rules For Picking Up Women"

Right, it's the same old chivalry game, man does the pursuing and the striking out while the woman sits back and judges the competitors.

This isn't progress, this isn't gender equality, this is primitive.  More of women wanting the best of both worlds.  Meanwhile the laws for sexual harassment are stricter than ever, so any poor slob who offends the princess can find himself in the arms of the state.

Do women do more "picking up" than they used to?  If not why not?  What's holding them back?

Or, it's just adolescent foolishness dressed up as "modern" lifestyle, given philosophical credibility by man-hating harpies.

For 70 grand she should know better

I thought feminism was supposed to end the tyranny of women being just a piece of meat?  I see countless women every day in 'shrink wrap', apparently without coercion.

During the trial, the plaintiffs portrayed one district manager as particularly abusive, so much so that he showed women pornographic images and invited them to sit on his lap.

That is not abusive.

I don't know the specifics of the law, but where I work if a man did this I think he would be liable to sexual harassment charges.  I would consider this behaviour disrespectful, as any sexual references in mixed groups of middle-class workers have always been considered unprofessional.  If they're working in a bar or construction site the social climate is different.

If this guy is a manager then there is a power differential that puts employees at a disadvantage.  Also, after all these years of political correctness there's really no excuse for him to be ignorant of the current expectations, whether right or wrong.  He sounds like a risk-taker, or simply undisciplined.

Did the women tell him point blank not to show them the images after the first time? Did he threaten the women with demotion or lack of promotion if they did not sit on his lap or look at the pictures? Women in the workplace need to learn to draw lines by speaking to those who are offensive to them. Most likely the men do not realize what they are doing is so offensive, and once told will back off.

This is one of my biggest peeves about working with women, they'll often avoid direct communication about problems and resort to whispers and indirect aggression.

I believe an earlier post referred to a woman who sought to shatter the glass ceiling by creating an all-female company (advertising or video production, I believe)...it only lasted a year. the female CEO said she'd never do it again because of the overwhelming nonstop drama her staff created in (or brought to) the workplace. There was backstabbing, insubordination, single-mother emergency absences, other domestic issues, PMS, sexual harrassment (incredibly, staff members talked about sex endlessly, then started arguing about it, then used it to eliminate rivals), more than enough physical and mental illness to go around, etc. etc. etc.

Statistically, female-run businesses make less profits than male-run businesses. That's not a stab at female-run businesses, it shows that they're less concerned with the bottom line. However, in a practical sense, they have difficulty competing with similar male-run businesses. A good stock retort to feminists should be "You're so qualified, start your own business."

Finally, since graduating college in 1990, probably 3/4ths of my bosses or supervisors (in about 20 different jobs) have been female.

I'm not convinced that the majority of women want to work full-time in previously male-dominated areas.  I think most women now see it as a necessary evil to maintain financial independence.

Added to the influx of women in the workforce is the decline of blue-collar and production work in N America.  Now more men are competing with women for the same office and service jobs.

After Bieber jokingly called Kardashian his "girlfriend" on his Twitter page, the pop star's two million Twitter fans began to threaten the sexy reality star.

This goes against everything the feminists said about men and women. According to them, men will use violence to get their way because they're aggressive, egotistical, selfish and uncaring. The behaviour from the girls suggests that there are many girls willing to use violence to get what they want and, do not care about the consequences it has on other people. This shows there are many young girls who are everything the feminists said about men.

How many men threaten to kill the men who date Pamela Anderson? I've never heard of one doing it.

Western feminists ignore social class in their pronouncements.  Working class girls will raise a fist without hesitation, while "nice" middle class ladies might not use violence as a first option.  The same may be true for men (I don't know the stats, just going by personal observation here)

There is a link between violence and class.

It seems like every cop show I watch is about a meek middle class woman threatened by an aggressive working class man - also the slasher movies: university coed stalked by disgruntled blue collar loser.  N America needs to get over it's idealism about classless society imo, it's naive at best.

The woman's comment about men running 3 levels of Government is a fallacy. She based it on the sole fact that most of the representatives in Parliament and the Senate are men. What she didn't acknowledge is the fact that the members of the Parliament and Senate are required to act in favour of the people they represent. Since the bulk of the people they represent are women -- women vote more than men and are more likely to band together -- the members of Parliament and Senate need to bow to women's demands. Failure to meet women's demands will lead to them been voted out of office. Therefore, men do not run all three levels of Government.

And, the actual public servants who implement political policy may be a female majority, it seems that way in our country after a couple of decades of Employment Equity regulations.

Education, health care and social services are dominated by women also, all politically-charged portfolios.  The myth that women have no political power is decades out of date, like most feminist rhetoric.

Boiled down to it's essence, Game is learning to be largely unaffected by female beauty.  It strips away Chivalry, and introduces you to the base nature of women...you know, the kind that like their bums in the air and their face repeatedly pounding a pillow?

Which, by the way, is damn near all of them.

But mostly, Game is a confidence builder in a meaningful way.

Think of it like this.  You start a new job in an unfamiliar field, and the work is complex.  Would you rather start that job fresh off the street, or would you think some education might be in order?

Game is education and training for dealing with women.

Thanks.  "No instructions included" I guess is how I felt as a teenager.  I came across Schopenhaur and Weininger a few years ago, totally politically incorrect, but very helpful

Being raised as a liberal feminist I was encouraged to ignore the traditional relationship rules in favour of our brave new world of equality (remember the Unisex '70s?)  But somehow the ladies didn't get the same memo...

Is the PUA approach a natural response to the romantic chivalry script?  In other words, if women didn't cling to the artificial pedestal of our Western romantic mythology, would there be any need for "gaming"?
