Main / Shirin Ebadi blames the patriarchy
Dec 11, 2003, 02:48 PM
Shirin Ebadi's acceptance speech is now on C-SPAN.  I caught the tail end, where she said the problem in Iran is "the patriarchy."

That's an interesting euphemism for "oppressive Islamic regime."

She also said, "Iranian women need to learn how to 'BELIEVE[/i]' in themselves."

BELIEVE in themselves!  That's what they need.  They don't need protection against mullahs who temporarily marry them for a night just to rape them, or stone them to death for adultery - they need self-esteem.

Ya, you know.  It isn't a Islamic thug regime versus the Iranian people thing - it's a male versus female thing.  The men there just want to hurt and oppress the women.  That's all it is.  That's all that needs fixed.  Islam is wonderful - MEN are the problem.

This woman knows exactly how to pander to a Western audience.  None of what she said was true, but it WAS what the socialist Europeans WANTED to be true.  It was disgusting to watch, especially the girls sitting in the audience who were nodding their heads, as if Shirin Ebadi was talking about THEM.  You know, WOMEN UNITE.  They, as free, rich Europeans are oppressed because they are women, and, you know ... so are Iranian women.  And Islam isn't bad.  Everyone is Muslim.  We just need a kinder, gentler version of it.

If there is any place that has equal opportunity for victim status, it is in Iran - they are oppressed *as Iranians* not as women or men.  A man can get bludgeoned to death for disobeying a cop .. his 3 best friends can be missing ... but it's a patriarchy thing, not a Muslim thing.

What's the point of dating?

 How to find a date

A group of friends was discussing dating. After several tales of nightmare encounters, one wondered out loud, "What's the point of dating?" To find a spouse or partner? To expand your social network? To avoid dying of boredom? To manage a transition?

We asked singles around the country why they dated and here's what they said:

Practice makes perfect
"Practice dating is a low-risk venture where you can try being yourself without fearing the consequences of rejection," says Crystal, 23, of Atlantic City, N.J. "You can act, say and dress however you want and see what happens. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. It's very low stakes."

Sam, 30, of Los Angeles, concurs. "My current dating strategy is to practice meeting new people, so that when I meet someone I actually like I will act well and appropriately, as opposed to acting weird. I am building an emotional and social infrastructure that can handle meeting random new people."

Getting to know you
When LaShon, 33, moved to Chicago, she knew three people. "I met several men online who not only helped me expand my social pool, but also helped me get to know the city. I'd ask them to meet me at their favorite spots so I could experience different places and people. It was great."

Kyra, 28, used dating to get to know herself better. "After a couple of short relationships, I wasn't sure what I wanted. So I went on a lot of dates to hone my idea of the best man for me. It was fun, I met some nice people and I came away with a solid idea of the characteristics I wanted in a partner."

On the rebound
People have mixed views when it comes to dating on the rebound. "I don't think you should," says Sasha, 30, of Wilmington, N.C. "You're not ready -- and what if the other person actually ends up liking you? It's just not going to amount to anything, so why bother?"

But Dan, 28 of Los Alamos, N.M., disagrees. "It's like the half-life on nuclear material -- you're just waiting it out till you're ready. But that doesn't mean you can't engage in the hopeful yet bittersweet activity of dating. It's intense and satisfying, yet you know it's not going to work out, so you don't get devastated when it falls apart."

Soul(mate) searching
"I'm dating pretty deliberately to find a wife," declares Tommy, 36, of Columbus, Ga. "I won't go out with a girl who's not ready for a serious relationship that will lead to something long-term. That's just where I'm at."

For Tara, 41, of San Francisco, dating is the key to finding your soul mate. "What else is there as human beings but to seek our other half? Nothing in your life will find its true balance until you've found 'the one.' Dating enables you to look into the souls of many people until you find the one that matches yours."

Main / March for Women's Lives
Dec 09, 2003, 07:18 PM
I don't know how the hell I got this email.  But a march for LIFE?  They are familiar that the LIFE at stake is the fetus's ... right??

God ... so dramatic!  Fight for life!  Unless women can kill unborn fetuses, they'll die!

Dear Feminist Activist,

We are very excited to tell you that the March for Women's Lives (March for
Freedom of Choice) on April 25th, 2004 in Washington, DC is moving forward
at an unprecedented pace. Already, over 400 national and local groups have
signed on as co-sponsors. Many celebrities including Margaret Cho, Laura
Dern, Janine Garofalo, Alix Olson and Alfrie Woodard have marked their
calendars to attend. And Sheryl Crow and Melissa Etheridge will perform at
the 31st anniversary Roe v. Wade Feminist Majority's Rock for Choice
concert in Los Angeles this January.

Yes, the women's rights majority is fighting back. The recent signing of an
abortion procedure ban, the global gag rule, the drastic cutbacks in family
planning, the cutoffs in Medicaid funding-- and the list goes on-- have all
resulted in feminists saying, "We have had enough!" It's time to march,
organize and fight back.

We know you want to join in at this crucial time in our nation's decision-
making and make this March massive and historic. We have made it easy for
you to sign up and participate at www.Feminist.org. Don't let another
minute go by- sign up today by clicking on the March banner. Better yet,
help your friends, co-workers, family members, group or colleagues to
organize a large delegation to march together on Washington this April for
women's lives. It will be an experience you will remember forever.

Your commitment to women's rights and your energy are essential to reverse
the right-wing assault on women's lives. We at the Feminist Majority know
that to mobilize your communities for this historic event you need all the
help you can get to manage this and your demanding life. That's why we
created a comprehensive organizing kit that is available at
www.Feminist.org. This kit provides information on everything from outreach
tactics to organizing delegations to coordinating travel logistics. Just
visit www.Feminist.org and click on the March banner at the top of the page
and start organizing!

We also produced the March for Women's Lives organizing video to assist you
in your mobilizing efforts. This video explains why we are marching and how
marches have changed the course of history. We are keeping the cost for
this video at a bare minimum-just $5.00. You can order it today at
www.Feminist.org. It will inspire you and your fellow feminists to plan
your first viewings right away.

We must not be pushed back any further. 70,000 women a year are dying of
unsafe and botched abortions in the developing nations already because of
our hypocritical foreign policies on family planning. And there are many
women who are needlessly suffering right here in the United States. We look
forward to working with you to make this March the largest women's rights
action this country has ever seen.

So Republicans love the protest warriors.  They crashed anti war protests last year with witty clever signs.  I of course love them and wanted to bang them for a long time.

Anyway, one of the protest warriors just posted on their forums and he is clearly a devout follower of ayn rand.

Of course.  Aren't all the good ones?  :D

Ruhollah Khomeini (was) the head thug of the Ayatollah regime, founded it in 1979.  Below is a story about his grandson, Hossein, who calls US forces in iraq "liberators" and will not go back until iran is liberated as well.  He also calls for US invasion of Iran and states it "matter of factly" as if it is "not controversial", according to Christopher Hitchens in his article below.

Main / Pro Iranian fever
Dec 06, 2003, 08:33 PM
Get your bumper stickers ready and your protest signs out because the fever is catching on everywhere.  :D :D  Everywhere I look, I see people being utterly moved by the Iranian peoples' desire for freedom and a secular Iran.  The Iranian people have faced death, torture, in their desire for freedom - they contact Westerners, who are always moved by their words, they protest knowing they may die, they lie and defy the religious fanatics torturing them.  I get feedback all the time from people in support of my work.  I see people on discussion forums getting the word out.  The movement will start shortly.  And remember who was there from the beginning - and who was not (*cough* all courrupt media, etc.).

:D :D

"Dear Mr. Ledeen:

It truly is with great honor that I am emailing you.  I have been doing work (articles) on Iran ever since an Iranian American friend tipped me off regarding what he thought of Shirin Ebadi (that she was a stooge for the Ayatollah meant to preserve the regime).  Since then, I've come in contact with multiple Iranians including phone contact with a very outspoken Iranian in Iran - who writes under the pseudonym Koorosh Afshar.  You may be familiar as he also write for national review online.  Since then, I, like many others, have come to have a very emotional support for the Iranian people.

At first I was very discouraged regarding the Iran situation, in particular how unfairly the Western media treated the sitution.  I was faced with taunts about how I must be intoxicated to write what I was writing, people insisting the Iranians are Muslim and favor the regime, etc.

I just very recently found your work and let me say your article "Nothing to Lose but Their Chains" brought me to my knees.  I truly have been moved by the Iranians and their desire for freedom and your article totally hit everything on the head.

Just in the past 2 days alone, I see a whole new outlook.  I've written articles (posted below) and gotten amazing feedback.  On various discussion forums, there now very much is a pro Iranian fever.  I sincerely think the time is right that the Iranians are going to get their voices heard and we can make an impact on politicians - and also I think it is crucial to get American campuses to support this cause, which I think would be easy to do if they were presented all facts regarding the situation (the students will support it not the professors).

I started an email list serv which is small but is filled with very intelligent and passionate people who favor a secular Iran.  If you would like to join this email list, please let me know.

I just wanted to say I really enjoy your work, and am here, ready and willing, to do anything necessary to help this particular cause.  Please feel free to contact me at any time.

Below is my most recent article called "The West Must Support the Iranians."  Also included is my work called "Shirin Ebadi:  Why do you endorse Islam," and "The Nobel Prize, Shirin Ebadi, and Political Agendas."  Hope you enjoy.

Sincerely,

Amber Pawlik

Iranian Alert -- December 6, 2003 -- IRAN LIVE THREAD
The Iranian Student Movement Up To The Minute Reports ^ | 12.6.2003 | DoctorZin

Posted on 12/06/2003 12:14:38 AM PST by DoctorZIn

The US media almost entirely ignores news regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran. As Tony Snow of the Fox News Network has put it, "this is probably the most under-reported news story of the year." But most American's are unaware that the Islamic Republic of Iran is NOT supported by the masses of Iranians today. Modern Iranians are among the most pro-American in the Middle East.

There is a popular revolt against the Iranian regime brewing in Iran today. Starting June 10th of this year, Iranians have begun taking to the streets to express their desire for a regime change. Most want to replace the regime with a secular democracy. Many even want the US to over throw their government.

The regime is working hard to keep the news about the protest movement in Iran from being reported. Unfortunately, the regime has successfully prohibited western news reporters from covering the demonstrations. The voices of discontent within Iran are sometime murdered, more often imprisoned. Still the people continue to take to the streets to demonstrate against the regime.

In support of this revolt, Iranians in America have been broadcasting news stories by satellite into Iran. This 21st century news link has greatly encouraged these protests. The regime has been attempting to jam the signals, and locate the satellite dishes. Still the people violate the law and listen to these broadcasts. Iranians also use the Internet and the regime attempts to block their access to news against the regime. In spite of this, many Iranians inside of Iran read these posts daily to keep informed of the events in their own country.

This daily thread contains nearly all of the English news reports on Iran. It is thorough. If you follow this thread you will witness, I believe, the transformation of a nation. This daily thread provides a central place where those interested in the events in Iran can find the best news and commentary. The news stories and commentary will from time to time include material from the regime itself. But if you read the post you will discover for yourself, the real story of what is occurring in Iran and its effects on the war on terror.

I am not of Iranian heritage. I am an American committed to supporting the efforts of those in Iran seeking to replace their government with a secular democracy. I am in contact with leaders of the Iranian community here in the United States and in Iran itself.

If you read the daily posts you will gain a better understanding of the US war on terrorism, the Middle East and why we need to support a change of regime in Iran. Feel free to ask your questions and post news stories you discover in the weeks to come.

If all goes well Iran will be free soon and I am convinced become a major ally in the war on terrorism. The regime will fall. Iran will be free. It is just a matter of time.

Main / FEMINISM IS SOCIALISM
Dec 06, 2003, 07:12 AM
Someone sent this to me.

Everyone keeps yelling at Dan that he doesn't know what communism is because communism worked a certain way and feminism is different.  Whatever.  This article below explains pretty nicely how feminism is communism.

-------

http://famguardian.org/Subjects/FamilyIssues/Feminism/
FeminismIsSocialism/FeminismIsSocialism.htm

Message To All so-called Patriot Americans: You Can't Handle The Truth

1. Current US child support laws were actually invented in the former communist Soviet Union.

2. Current child support laws are communist infiltrations into the united states of America.

feminism as a military psychological weapon to control society

Amerika the 4th Reich:

FEMINISM IS SOCIALISM

First thing communist countries do is put the women to work to take over the family unit.
Increasing the workforce decreases wages - Economy101 - basic simple concepts of supply and demand. Women in the workforce doubled the workforce which decreased wages - (which was deceptively hidden thru deflation/the devaluing of the dollar).

(example: Let's say I own a factory. I have 500 employees knocking on my door everyday looking for work; I can then decrease wages and say, "If you don't like it there's the door. I have 500 ppl knocking on my door everyday looking for work."
On the other hand, if I cannot find enough ppl to work in my factory, I would have to increase wages (if I can still make a profit.)
Read again from top now and Continue)...

That is why in the 1950's, the avg. American family lived fine on one income but today the avg. American family needs two incomes just to get by.
Women in the workforce; feminism, just created more Taxpaying Slaves for The State resulting in the enslavement of the average American family unit.

Feminists are being used ... they have complained about power control freak men, husbands ... only to have it replaced by a Power-Control-Freak Totalitarian Police STATE.
Create a (so-called) problem just to justify the excuse for more power to solve it is the oldest Dictator ploy in the book.

Either Fathers own their children or the STATE OWNS the children. Law of the Jungle; women look for the best Provider -- when the best Provider becomes the STATE (i.e. the Welfare State), she then marries (into) the STATE and now the STATE OWNS her children.

"Who owns the youth owns the future!" - Adolf Hitler ... thus the US Dept. of (in)Human(e) Services; Division of Family Destruction. Either the man/husband/father is the Head of His Household ... or the STATE is the HEAD of your Household! Attack the Family Unit = weaken society ... thus more STATE CONTROL. Cut the Head (man of the household) out - thus more STATE CONTROL = own the children thus more STATE CONTROL - breed ignorant society thus more STATE CONTROL.

Feminism = weaker men; weaker men = LESS RESISTANCE thus more STATE CONTROL.
Patriarchy = Men own their wives ... it's called a family unit ... it's called morality.
Feminism/matriarchy = everyone having sex with each others' women while still remaining "friends" like a bunch of ANIMALS! Feminism/matriarchy = village = socialism = tribalism = lowest form of civilization = NO SURPLUS = Deficit = Slavery.

Patriarchy = family unit = efficiency = prosperity = Individual Rights = opposite of socialism = Surplus = free time for great works/inventions ... i.e. immigrants who come here and prosper come from patriarchal family structures because Patriarchy = family unit = efficiency.

Name me one time when Government Sponsored Propaganda was not Totalitarian in Nature. Feminism is Government Sponsored Propaganda - to weaken society; weaken the family unit; weaken it's men ... for more STATE CONTROL.
Multiculturalism = everyone different (immigrants not "Americanized") = NO UNITY amongst society = Divide & Conquer/LESS RESISTANCE thus more STATE CONTROL.
Homosexuality + abortion = population control.
Population control techniques deployed at Americans + allowing more illegal immigrants into the country = higher % (of society) of a working slave force - cheap labor.

Racial Eugenics in AmeriKa:
The #1 Group to benefit from Affirmatice Action are white women (thus) they are using mathematics to keep a large percentage of minority men DOWN
"He who rules mathematics rules the Universe"
This is the mathematics of racial eugenics.
This is the mathematics of the New World Order.
AmeriKa Today has 1/3 of the entire world's prison population and 78% of Amerikan prisoners are black men, and that is not even counting latino men.
If these black men were all let out of jail, there would not be enough jobs for them all.
The Shadow Government who is truly in Control of AmeriKa, wants and needs all these minority males in jail so that they can give half the good jobs to white women.
I am going to expose this evil to Non-White AmerIka. I am not against white people, I am against the evils of feminism, I am against having all these minority males living horrific lives in jail at the expense of the AmeriKan Feminist WHITE WOMAN.

Even after DNA proves that he is NOT the biological Father, Judges in the US still force thousands of men to pay child support even with the DNA evidence in front of them !!!
Thousands of men in California ALONE are being forced to pay child support AFTER DNA Proves that He is NOT the Biological father:
http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/paternity021002.html
www.glennjsacks.com/california_governor_davis.htm

Not even Saddam Hussein would force a man to pay child support for a child that is NOT his !!!
Feminism is a Weapon of Mass Destruction

"First You Get the Women, Then You've Got the Children, So Follow the Men" -Adolph Hitler

"The `perennial' father is a menace to society and must be treated as such. Like the mental defectives and those afflicted with certain hereditary diseases, he should, after due warning, be rendered incapable of further parentage." -W.J. Ruth. "Population Control For Unemployment." Birth Control Review, Volume XVII, Number 5 (May 1933), page 134.

In the Book of Genesis, when Satan attacked Adam and Eve, he attacked through the weaker vessel: the woman. Just like The STATE is doing today, attacking us through feminism, through the 'woman'. Falsely "empower" the woman for her to make the wrong choices that way to weaken the man to control him. This is how evil attacks man, who was made in the image of God.
In the Book of Exodus, Pharaoh of Egypt decided to kill all the male Israelite infants to weaken the Israelites militarily. This is nothing new. Think about it ! ! !
Statism is Antichrist plain and simple. God should be the King and Head of an individual man, and the man/husband should be the head of his household, not the Anti-Christ STATE.

In this last century alone, governments around the world have killed over 500 million people of their own people. All this government sponsored propaganda about Domestic Violence is just a smoke screen to divert attention from the real abuse: Government Abuse Against It's Own People. This is the real Domestic Violence.

The Bible depicted governments as Beasts; in Daniel and Revelations. Look at old Nazi film; their Armies marching like ants mimicking the Animal Kingdom and therefore subhuman. Individual Freemen become just another cog in the Wheel of the Predator Beast State which becomes the Alpha Male which today IT is doing this through the propaganda of feminism. By feminizing society and thus emasculating it's males for more State Control.

"To disobey tyranny is to obey God." - Thomas Jefferson

Paying child support kills children by Funding/Subsidizing the #1 KILLER of children: single-mother-households:
Children from single-mother households, compared to children of two-parent families where the biological father is present, are more likely to go to prison by 20 times, to commit suicide by 5 times, to have behavioral problems by 20 times, to become rapists by 14 times, to run away by 32 times, to abuse chemical substances by 10 times, to drop out of high school by 9 times, to be seriously abused by 33 times, to be fatally abused by 73 times, to be one tenth as likely to get A's in school, and to [per Lenore Weitzman] have a 72% lower standard of living.

"This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember it or overthrow it." - Abraham Lincoln, First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1861 (1809-1865)

Question to America:

America used to be free. Not anymore. America has turned into Amerika.

Question to America:
1. I steal your car.
2. You take me to Court and the Judge 'gives' me custody of your car.
3. On top of that, the Judge now says you must keep paying the monthly payments, insurance, and overall maintenance of the car.
If you refuse to 'pay', you are labeled/vilified into a lowlife scumbag dirt bag criminal and thrown in jail surrounded by violent criminals.
And to make matters even worse, the government pays/sponsors for a massive government Nazi-like propaganda campaign, brainwashing society, convincing them that if you don't accept/pay for this, with a smile on your face no doubt, that you are than a scumbag dirt bag lowlife 'deadbeat' who belongs in jail surrounded by murderers, rapists, child molesters, etc.

Question to America:
What exactly happened here?
Explain to me what happened here, because this is exactly what they are doing to American Fathers.

If the British had this current System some 200 yrs. ago the American Revolution would have never happened. Benjamin Franklin had like 13 bastard children, he would have ended up in jail as a 'deadbeat' dad.
The rest of our Founding Fathers would have been forced to 'attend' Anger Management Courses.
This US Media Propaganda Machine would have called the Protestors of the Boston Tea Party a bunch of 'nuts' and/or anarchists.
Feminism is a military psychological weapon to feminize/emasculate society for more State Control by weakening the State's Main Competitor: Men

The US Federal Government is the Biggest Deadbeat: $5.7 TRILLION on the National Debt - (financial-future of 'our children').

The STATE Kidnaps children from their Fathers than demand ransom/extortion deceptively called 'child support.'

Maxim of law: The children that belong to the mother are those of slaves and animals. But the children that belong to the Father are those of Freemen.

That is why the Slave Masters used to separate the black slave Father from the black slave mother and child to weaken them to better control them. Divide & Conquer: this is nothing new.
And now they are doing it to men today in Amerika: 2003

Even after DNA proves that he is NOT the biological Father, thousands of men in America are still FORCED to pay this ransom/extortion deceptively called child support even with DNA EVIDENCE PROVING he is NOT the Father:
http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/paternity021002.html

Why aren't former Enron Execs forced to pay child support to all the familes who lost their money?
Why should Corporations have more rights then Individuals?
The Constitution spoke of Rights of the Individual (not of the rights of Corporations)

Also:
Women today can dump their babies off in garbage dumpsters and go to jail, but when they get out of jail (they are than not forced to pay child support)
Women today can dump their babies off in Police Stations and Hospitals and not be prosecuted for it (a new law now) And these women are not forced to pay child support...
Women can also give up their baby to adoption (orphanages)... and not be forced to pay child support. Women can dump THEIR responsibilities...
Why can't men ?

Society today promotes, advocates, and supports homosexuality while at the same time promote, advocate, and fully support destroying heterosexual males with alimony and child support... this is SATANIC !!!

"Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle! Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did, and it never will. Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress." - Thomas Paine

YEARNING FOR FREEDOM
Iran forces quell
massive uprising
Protesters gunned down as people resist Revolutionary Guard assault

Iranian Supreme Revolutionary Guard forces under the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reportedly killed a 10-year-old boy in the country's minority Baloch region yesterday, touching off a massive uprising against the Islamic regime countered by a deadly crackdown and imposition of martial law, according to sources on the scene.

Amid burning banks, stores and government offices, at least 30 Baloch protesters are dead and 80 injured in the southeastern city of Saravan near the Pakistani border, said Malek Meerdora, who immigrated to Canada from the city in 1993.

Meerdora told WorldNetDaily the Iranian government has attempted to shut off communication from the city, but he has been in contact with sources there via satellite telephone and the Internet.

He said soldiers approached the 10-year-old, Haroun Balochzahi, and grabbed his bike from him, insisting on a bribe. The boy did not speak Farsi, the majority language, and responded by biting a soldier and running. The youth was shelled with bullets in front of people on the streets and died on the spot, Meerdora said, prompting an immediate reaction.

In an unusual display of resistance to the hard-line, cleric-led regime, a crowd set a military jeep on fire and began beating the soldiers, Meerdora said.

Later, at about 1:30 p.m., thousands of Balochs, including many from surrounding cities, began to congregate on the streets in protest.

Revolutionary Guard soldiers opened fire on the crowd, hitting up to 80 people, witnesses claimed.

The entire city and surrounding area is raised up against the Tehran government, Meerdora said, burning down symbols of the regime and attacking Iranian officials.

Crowds reached the offices of the mayor, commissioners and chief of police and beat them, he said, and many soldiers have been beaten by unarmed citizens.

The director of the hospital has been warned by the government to not take in any wounded protesters, and some Balochs have been shot in front of the hospital, according to Meerdora's sources.

He said security forces went to the hospital and killed people in their rooms.

About 300 people have been jailed, and uncooperative prisoners have had their tongues cut out, he said.

"I mark this as a day of revolution," Meerdora said. "I think the Iranian government will face more problems."

He said throughout the evening, Revolutionary Guard forces watched over the people from roof tops, prepared to fire at anyone who moves from his home.

No one is allowed to enter or leave the city, he added.

Similar to the Kurds, the Balochs, who comprise 2 percent of Iran's population, regard themselves as a nation separated by borders - in their case the frontier between Iran and Pakistan, which also has a sizable Baloch minority.

Politically the Baloch identify as Muslims, but most do not practice Islam, Meerdora said.

Some analysts say Iran's theocratic regime is unraveling, as resistance movements, including one led by students, grow stronger.

"This theocratic regime is in shambles, coming to the end of its rope," according to Fereydoun Hoveyda, senior fellow at the National Committee on American Foreign Policy in New York City. "People are not afraid of it anymore."

Hoveyda contends, however, Western nations have adopted a flawed policy that focuses on support of President Mohammad Khatami's reform movement rather than on a secular, democratic movement led by students. He adds that while Arabs in many lands danced in the streets in praise of the Sept. 11 attackers, "ordinary Iranians were the only Muslims to openly condemn them and express sympathy to the American people."

"The American press, as well as the [U.S.] government, misreads the events in Iran," Hoveyda said in an interview with WorldNetDaily last fall. "They think that there is one reformist movement, represented by Khatami."

Khatami, he points out, is against dismissing the Islamic regime, which came into power after the ruling shah was forced into exile amid seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran by militant students. The U.S. no longer has diplomatic relations with Iran.

Police Close Popular Fast-Food Restaurants in Iran
Thu Dec 4,10:00 AM ET

By Paul Hughes

Quote:
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Police have shut down four of the Iranian capital's Western-style fast-food restaurants, popular with youngsters as meeting places to mingle with the opposite sex, in an apparent crackdown on un-Islamic behavior.

Restaurant owners said the closures were ordered 12 days ago by a branch of the police notorious for closing down shops and eating places deemed to have contravened the Islamic Republic's strict moral code.

"They closed the biggest fast-food places in Tehran in one day, without giving a reason," one owner, who declined to be named, told Reuters Thursday. "We've had to fire all our workers because we don't know when we'll be allowed to reopen."

Bored teenagers, officially prohibited from socializing with unrelated members of the opposite sex, pack into brightly lit eateries and coffee shops in the evenings and at weekends to subtly flirt over a burger or a coke.

Young women, in particular, have incurred the wrath of hardline authorities by wearing make-up, short coats and colorful scarves pushed back to expose as much hair as possible instead of the head-to-toe black chadors deemed necessary by the country's ruling clerics to protect a woman's modesty.

Another owner told the reformist Tosea newspaper that police said his restaurant -- located, like the other three, in upmarket northern Tehran -- was shut for "not observing the Islamic code of behavior."

"If (the police) have a problem with how the youth dress or behave they should adopt a cultural solution for the problem," Tosea quoted him as saying.

Tehran police officials could not be reached for comment.

Tired of such costly closures, some restaurants in Tehran have begun to employ soccer-style penalties for diners who could jeopardize their business.

Girls deemed to be improperly dressed or men flirting too openly with the opposite sex may receive a "yellow card" on their table warning them to modify their dress or behavior.

Repeat offenders receive a "red card," and are asked to leave at once.

Psychologists said shutting restaurants would have the opposite effect to that intended.

"By closing such places they are channeling that behavior indoors where anything could happen. You cannot suppress young people's instincts," one psychologist, who asked not to be named, told Reuters.

The West needs to Support the Iranian People

Most Westerners know very little about the psyche of the Iranian population.  Those who think they do are usually nothing more than elitist leftists who are projecting what they want to believe about Iranians unto the Iranians.

I've gotten into many debates with leftist elitists who insist that the Iranian population is Muslim.  I was on the phone with a man (who sympathizes largely with communist theory), and I brought up Iran.  The first thing he said to me was, "They are muslim."  Although he asserted that they are Muslim, he in fact revealed the opposite.  The fact that as I brought up the Iranian people, he immediately defended the notion that they are Muslim proves that the issue is debatable.

Those insisting the Iranians are Muslim are leftist Islamic apologists who fundamentally need to believe that the entire rest of the world is Muslim.  They are of the naïve belief that people everywhere would just like a kinder, gentler version of Islam.  They are wrong.  Many people around the world, especially in Iran, are not Muslim and in fact hate it.

It's time to shed light on the secular psyche of the Iranians.  Ever since my work on Shirin Ebadi, I've been in contact with several Iranians from around the world - including phone contact with an Iranian living in Tehran.  Let me tell you what they have told me.

I'll tell you about my first phone conversation with my friend in Tehran.  I said to him at the end of the conversation, "I hope and pray that Iran is free someday so I can safely visit you."  He said to me, "Don't pray.  Praying gets us nowhere and got us into this mess."

It is true:  a healthy majority of Iranians will identify themselves as Muslim.  But most of these people are peasants.  The Iranians, since the day they were born, have been anti-American, pro-Muslim propaganda.  Many, naively, fall to it as is to be expected.  Regardless, most of these people consider themselves Iranian first and Muslim second.

But there is a rich tradition among the more enlightened Iranians - the ones who pass the great Iranian tradition of reason and enlightenment from one generation to the next.  These are the Iranians who uphold Iranian culture and, if the mullahs were driven out, would represent the people and mold Iran in their vision.

The battle between the Iranian people and their thug government has gone on for centuries.  Before the Islamic takeover, the Iranians were Zoroastrians.  Very few pockets of Zoroastrians exist now, but the religious battle between the Iranian people versus the Islamic thugs has always existed.

If you want to see the secular psyche of Iranians, you really have to do little research on the internet to find it.  You will find many Iranians who are downright hostile to Islam itself, with its advocacy of decapitations and floggings; Iranians who openly say they see no compatibility between Islam and human rights; or even Muslim Iranians, like Ebadi, who call for an ending of such Koran-based laws like public stonings.  Among the Iranian people, you would be hard pressed to find someone who wants to keep the government as it exists.  They do not want a milder version of what exists (everyone except Ebadi that is).  They want a fundamental regime change.  And, I'd like to add - they would like a government minus Islam.

The Iranian government poses the biggest threat to the United States and the Iranian people hold the biggest potential for setting up a stable democracy in the Middle East.  It is where we should turn our attention to next.  We should be focused on empowering the Iranian people.  They need our moral and military support.

The Iranian population is incredibly young.  This means they are willing to fight, but lack leadership.  The West needs to provide it.  The thugs working for the mullahs would turn their back on the government and support the people if only the people showed clearly that they will support them 100%.  However, many Iranians are still waiting for a Messiah.  This should stop.  They need to know fundamental regime change is in their hands and their hands alone.  The Iranian people need a whirlwind of support - a gusto - a fire under their wings to once and for all topple the Ayatollah.  It should be quick, devastating, and therefore - relatively painless.

They are in dire need of Western support.  If most Western people understood the situation in Iran, there is little doubt in my mind that Westerners would support the Iranian people.  Regardless the Islamic apologist left or the theocracy-favoring right, the American people tend to support the Iranian people when they hear of their plight.

The reason why America as a whole is hesitant to support others around the world is largely due to our corrupt intellectual leadership.  Our universities, media, etc. is filled with anti-capitalist, anti-American dirtbags.  I was in fact told by one leftist that we should be "cautious" about endorsing a free, capitalist society in the Middle East.  He said, "I think it would be fine if civil society controlled the middle east, but I'm afraid it would turn into another stifling petite bourgeoisie modeled after the West. "

I would like to take his concern to the Iranian people.  Let them choose:  a theocracy which hangs its women for committing adultery or - oh the horror - a system with a middle class.

Leftists are reprehensible.  A large part of the reason they won't support Iranians is because it makes their complaints look petty.  Western intellectuals complain the capitalist system victimizes people - Americans simply can't turn down big macs at McDonald's or Hershey bars at the supermarket.  Meanwhile, in Iran, virginal women are raped before they are executed so they don't die virgins - because executing a virgin is against the Koran.  Regardless what political-economic system is ultimately set up in Iran or elsewhere, one thing is for sure:  it will be far better than what exists now.

I am addressing this to you - a Western person, especially those on college campuses.  Tell everyone you know about their situation.  Write letters.  Send this article to your friends.  Get the word out.  I believe it is in the heart of every American to see people around the world enjoy the freedoms we do.

Experience Means Baggage

It is fashionable today to believe that one must date a lot to get significant "experience" before marriage.  You know, in the same way the doctor gets better with experience, or the athlete gets better through practice, a man or woman gets better at dating through experience.

But, when it comes to dating and sex, I propose, experience doesn't mean wisdom.  It means baggage.

The biggest way this materializes itself is a typical liberal belief that one needs excessive sexual experience to ... erm, "get good at it."  Public schools now teach every and all sexual acts, from anal sex to S&M sex.  Liberals perpetuate the lie that a person must experiment in sex to decide what they really like, otherwise they might end up in a tyrannical unhappy marriage, where - god forbid - their lover can't please them!

Nevermind that along with all this "wisdom" comes potential STDs, pregnancy, and emotional damage.  We need that experience!

Actually, if you were to go ask any person about their favorite sexual experience, my guess is very few people will describe a lover that really wowed them through some wild, mechanical act.  My guess is they will describe being with a person whom they greatly admired, were intimate with, and it was not their moves they responded to, but their intellectual and moral character.

Another argument regarding "experience" with dating is cohabitation.  Men and women need to live with each other before marriage, because what if they're incompatible!

Let me go out on a limb and suggest something crazy:  if your ability to be happy with your lifelong mate is dependent on being able to pick a compatible toothpaste with them, not find their morning rituals too annoying, or be able to cook and clean with them effectively, you are already doomed.

This stuff is grunt work.  It's petty and meaningless.  Let me put it to you simply:  you aren't always going to get your own way.  If you are really touchy about always being able to get your own way in the household, don't get married.  You're not ready for it.

The only thing moving in with a boyfriend or girlfriend does is create baggage.  It de-mystifies the concept of marriage, and dwindles the lofty husband wife relationship into a petty apartment buddy relationship.  Over 75% of people who lived with each other before marriage end up getting divorced within 3 years of marriage.  Practically speaking, cohabitation is a failure.

Dating is not supposed to be something you get good at.  Not if the fundamental goal is one lifelong husband and wife relationship.  Dating is supposed to be a temporary process, not something one should master.  If you find that person right away, awesome.  If not, keep looking.  But, going in and out of relationships, sleeping with multiple amounts of people is not going to help you gain experience for that one person.  It's just going to cause baggage.

I'm not even really opposed to sex before marriage (although I am cautious about it).  I just find the idea that we need to gain experience in dating before marriage to be absurd.  Let's state why we date and have sex before marriage.  It's for enjoyment, not experience.

The primary preparation you should do before marriage is not experimental, but theoretical.  It is the difference between getting a map out and plotting your drive versus just getting on the road, getting lost, then finding your way around.

Going mindlessly into a situation, in order to supposedly gain "experience," is called pragmaticism.  It is also the dominant educational philosophy today.  Instead of giving student's theoretical knowledge, students are jam-packed in "case studies" and "labs," with little intellectual guidance, in order to gain "practical experience."

As you prepare for marriage, getting wisdom from people will be much better than getting wisdom from experience.  Knowing who you are, what you want, and thinking long term are going to be much better at setting up a solid marriage.

People often tell me, as a 23 yr old female, I don't have enough experience to be talking about dating, sex, and marriage.  I don't even want to hear it.  From what I can tell, experience only leads to baggage.  And the majority of older people who criticize me for what I believe are not people with wisdom, but people trying to dump their baggage on me.

When it comes to sex and dating, experience doesn't create wisdom.  It is only going to create baggage, which will drag you down and prevent you from attaining higher, better ideals.
