"Actually, I don't think that most men are at all aware of their privilege. One of the perks of being the dominant class. You can be absolutely blind to your privilege and take offense when someone dares to point it out. "

OK, now do we see the IRONY here?

This is insane. Basically, he is saying that the liberals are the only ones who can make the world better, and since women tend to be more liberal then they are better.

Health care, paid for by the state, only brings on a whole new mess of problems. In canada, where they have national health care, there is a 6 month waiting list for bypass surgery. Of course those with money just pay to come down here and have it done in the US, which begs the question "How is that any different than the US?"

School have more problems than teachers. Of course if they really wanted to make things better they would abolish the teachers unions and the tenure system. I have first hand seen how damaging they both are. Of course he couldn't put THAT up for vote, now, could he?

Notice he only picked issues which women are interested in?

AHHHH!

I am so moving to the mars if they ever open it up for population. I can't think of anywhere on this earth it is any different. Earth sucks.

Yes, a loan works like that. I should not have used the two together. However a grant is money which is given and not paid back by the state. Shouldn't that money only be used for school? I don't know any college where a car, especially a hot new racing car, is  necessary to get a degree.

Dave and I paid for that grant in taxes, or  would have had it been in the US. I greatly protest at our tax dollars being spent this way.

It just kills me how feminists say things about the world that if you live in it for 5 minutes you know the opposite to be true.

We teach little girls that we don't like them to be greedy, pushy or overly aggressive

Girls today are very aggressive, very pushy, and women in general have always been more greedy, look at the fact that women usually marry up, not down. Of course if you look at that top 5 % of men who are business tycoons you could make a point for greedy men. That is only if you ignore the other 95%.

If you plan well, you can make meals from scratch no matter what your schedule. It's called a crock pot.   I do not buy canned soups, or any other pre-made items other than occasionally cereal. Even when I was working I managed. I make bread, soup stock, and even sometimes pasta by hand. Of course I love to cook, because I LOVE to eat ! Thank god for my metabolism :D

It just kills me when parents I know tell me their child is too picky, they can't cook anything but bland, store bought food. If that is what they were raised on, then that is what they will eat. My kids eat everything from traditional Indian to Mexican, to Italian, all of which is heavily spiced. We are proud of how hot we can handle our food. I made chicken wing pizza and we all sat around sweating bragging how much we ate!  (it was MF HOT! Use Hellfire House of Wings-Nuclear SPARINGLY!)

Now in Dave's extended family of about 80, there was ONE picky eater. I mean by picky he would only eat 2 things, hot dogs and BPJ, until he was a teenager. These kids are RARE. The others are all a symptom of poor cooking skills, lack of priority, or parents who enable poor eating by fussing. Kids will eat when they are hungry. If you only offer good food, but a variety and just ignore any whining, they will eat eventually. This is a basic dog training tenant. Bad behavior which is not self-rewarding will disappear when ignored. Take away the incentive.

I sometimes wonder if processed food has addictive preservatives to lure young children into the lifelong habit of processed food addiction.

I love how I used to get sent dozens of man hating jokes, many of them redneck jokes, and not once did it occur to anyone to report them. I did write back to the senders and comment that it was sexist and please don't send me anymore, and for the most part they don't. Did it ever occur to any of them to just say no? Try using English, and just say "please don't send me e-mails like thatagain". That would be too hard I guess.

Good ol' McKensie.

"Women are also increasingly canny in bargaining for a good price when buying or selling cars; one respondent from Essex described how she tops up her student grant by constantly buying cars and trading them up."

Aren't student grants for, like, school? Silly me. I thought misuse of student grants and loans was illegal.

This artilce is BS. Most women I know want safety first, then gas mileage. Even my best friend R, who can tell you the horsepower of every Firebird ever made, looks for safety and gas mileage first.

Where do they come up with this crap? What 3 girls like cars and all of a sudden women are better drivers?

Back at good ol' Empower, here are some of the horrible ways women are oppressed and men have power and entitlement.

Let's see, men can take their shirts off  :o , talk loud   ,and um, oh yeah, have  'Hooters'

Oh the horrors.

They just kill me.

I welcome the feminists too, but I think they are too chicken to actually come here and debate. Modern feminism is based on misconceptions, lies, and irrational fear, it will not stand up to the scrutiny of actual facts and logic.  To come here would actually mean they are opening themselves up to challenge.

I am completely willing, however, to look at their side of the story, and to listen to what they have to say. I may not agree with it, but I will listen.

I wonder if King would have had her on the show if she had a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl?

Of course, lesbianism is all the rage. She probably would be getting a medal from NOW for saving another poor helpless female from the evil clutches of some hairy old man.

I think that the point of this poll was usage in the context of the issues. All of us probably use some slang version for men and women, however when the slang appears written in an article for one gender and not the other it certainly effects the voice of the article. If an article says men and chicks, then obviously the men are being seen as the more serious group with the power. In the reverse, and more often employed -women and guys, the informal use of 'guys' takes away power from that side, making them sound immature and ineffective. I think that using slang in an article is poor use of English anyhow, and should not be used. In real life, it all depends on the intention, which is where the PC crap failed to stop.

I also see a very powerful example of semantics in the abortion debate. The left uses Pro-Choice, which connotates the fight for personal liberty, which is a corner stone of the US constitution. However, the term Pro-Abortion, which is much more accurate, is the support of a woman going to a doctor to have a fetus vaccuumed out of her womb, killing it in the process. It is ugly, and not at all something to be proud of. Whether you agree with abortion or not, the use of words here makes a huge difference in how the subject is looked at.

I think that the difference between men and guys may not be this strong, but it does need to be looked at in terms of usage in published material.

We women are just so much better then you men. We have dignity, self control, intelligence, and don't conform to societal pressures to debase ourselves. You men really should try to be more like us.

Good grief.

I can tell you first hand that feminism is not compatable with marraige. I do not think Dave and I would be together right now if it weren't for men's activism. The attitude of hate, entitlement, and lack of respect made me a nightmare to live with. Feminism is insidious, and misguiding, and would have caused me to walk out on the greatest thing to come into my life.

The best thing I can suggest to a man who is married now is to start bringing the activism home. Be patient and know when to back off to give her time to absorb things, but put the info out there. I had a very difficult time, because by default my group is the bad group, so to speak. I got angry, defensive, and actually was pushed further left for a while. Much as men must have had difficulty swallowing feminism at first. But give it time and it definately is worth it.

To those that aren't married, I would bring it up now, before you make a commitment. If she is unable to deal with it, cut your losses now.

That is rediculous. That is like putting them on a driving test then rewarding women for hitting what jumps in front of them as opposed to avoiding it. If men are more hyped, of course they will react to more, women are more relaxed, they will react to less. How about reversing it, and score based on how long the response time was to make a choice. What a biased test.  I cannot believe the BBC is retarded enough to not notice this.

Thats actually how I got this handle. Steven aka Beene, told me to get in the kitchen and make him some biscuits. Of course I told him he couldn't handle my biscuits, but that is another story
