A belief that America is a rape culture is actually quite common among feminists.  Most feminist bloggers write about it.  I don't dispute that rape cultures have and do exist (ie Bosnia in the early 1990s, Sudan today), but America is not one of them.

Well depends on how you define rape culture, but the way i take it (people freely acknowledge that the rape frequently happens, and that those who are raped deserve it) then I think America certainly falls into the catagory... when you consider how prison inmates are regarded.

Now in the USA blacks make up about 8% of the population last I checked and they have about an equal percentage in donors but they don't have to pay because they are minorities!

I think you are looking at this in the wrong way - any given donor is very, very unlikely to be a usable match for someone needing tissue, even within their own ethnic group (outside their own ethnic group, the odds are pretty much just wishful thinking) - it's not like blood donation, where most blood is usable by most people of that general type.

So, if a white person needs a donor, there's two and a bit million potential matches. Say he matches... oh, random small figure, 0.01% of donors. That's two hundred and fifty people who are possible matches. But a black guy, his 0.01% of the donor pool only comes to forty people.

That's a six times greater match rate, six times the chance that you'll find someone who's medically well, able to travel and give marrow, not ruled out for one of the many reasons...

The "white donor pool" is going to be being hit a lot more times than the "black donor pool", yes. But it's not as simple as a direct matching of numbers.

1) There is a big difference between you being required to pay because you are white, and the fee getting paid for others because they are in greater demand.

I mean, would you make a fuss if it were a blood drive, and they were waiving the fee for AB negs, because they were so desperately needed the group had decided the best use of limited funds was to ensure blood of this type got donated if at all possible.

2) It's a bit unfair to say you have to pay because you are a white male - this applies to women just as much as it does to men.

On the other hand charging people for donation seems rather silly - surely it would be in the governments best interest to pay for this from taxpayers money so that everyone willing to donate does!

I'm wondering what's going to happen when more platonic marriages start cropping up. These are marriages between people who are just friends and don't actually love each other. They can be same or different sex. But they do this to gain tax breaks, get on each other's medical etc.

Isn't this caught by the same law that stops illegal immegrants just marrying someone to get a green card?

One must wonder about the safety of democracy when government begins to choose what candidates you are allowed to vote for. I thought that was supposed to be left up to the people.

I think you are mistaken about how the party system works. They are not choosing who people can vote for, they are not choosing who can run - he is talking about choosing who can run as a representative of the conservative party in any given area.

And he's not even talking about that - he's talking about creating a short list (50% male, 50% female) of qualified suitable candidates for replacing any conservative representative who retires from politics (note: this will not have any immediate effect on who is in the goverment, nor will the people on it get into governement unless they are elected by the members of the retiree's constituancy - against whom anyone, male or female, can run)

Scientists are people from the upper scale of society. Ground-breaking innovation / research is being done by the most intelligent people, people with the highest IQ. It wasn't so long ago that it was found that men in general have higher IQs than women in general. This gap widens even further at higher levels of IQ. Also most inventions / innovations nowadays, and pretty much ever since the beginning of time, have been done / implemented due to men, not women.
So it will be more likely a cure for breast cancer will be discovered by a man.

Except for, you know, one of the most important discoveries surrounding cancer (the effect of radiation on the bodies cells) was originally researched by a women. Surprising considering her low IQ must have been such a draw back.

I think if you want to have no-fault divorce, then the person who wants it, can have it, but they leave the marriage with NOTHING. Nothing at all, including no rights to the children. Want to end the marriage for no reason? Okay, but you lose everything.

What if both of them want it? Do you donate all the common assets to charity and both walk away with nothing?
What if one partner is being abused? Should they have to put up with this until they collect enough evidence to go to the police, or should they lose all their money/rights to children because your partner is a horrible person who is careful not to leave evidence of this?

She collects 15+ years of CS and half the assets just as if we were legally married. Why? Because the law says she could.

And possibly because they are your children? Should the spouse who leaves have to pay all the child care costs from them on?
