Don't know if anyone's heard about this movie yet, but the basic premise is:
"When a regular guy (Luke Wilson) dumps a superhero (Uma Thurman) because of her neediness, she uses her powers to make his life a living hell."

Check out the trailer.

Just so it's clear, Uma's too needy, clingy and self-absorbed so Wilson breaks it off and starts dating the chick from Scary Movie. The rest of the film is Uma stalking, threatening and abusing this guy until he gets back with her. IMDB lists this as a "romantic comedy." Can anyone tell me what exactly is funny about a man getting beaten up because he broke up with a woman?

Nothing funny about that at all.

Is it just me - or hasn't there been a decent comedy movie since "A Fish Called Wanda?"

TheManOnTheStreet

Because beating up men is always funny!  especially if it's a woman half his size!  IT makes for good laughs!

Like this part:

"I always knew you'd come back to me, that's why I didn't kill you!"

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAAHAAHAAHAA

Yet if it were a man who was clingy etc. etc. he'd be an evil stalker with jennifer lopez trying to hide and then fighting him aka a Chick Horror flick.

I don't know, I saw the trailers for this movie and I see it as more of a satirical look at how nutso women can get, especially when it comes to break ups.  You know the old expression "hell hath no fury..."  It hasn't stood the test of time because it's a catchy phrase, there is truth behind that expression.  I have no intentions of seeing this movie, chances are that they'll take what could be an amusing premise for a movie and turn it into junk anyway.  Hollywood is really taking churning out crap to new levels these days.

Looks like another movie sterotyping woman as being crazy.

To some extent yes. But more than that it is portraying a woman being abusive to a man as being funny. And what people here are saying is if you reverse the roles the movie is condemned for glorifiying stalking and abuse. I may see this movie just to see how bad it is. I may evenchuckle at a few parts, but that won't change my view of it overall as playing to the blatant double standards in societal behavior towards men.

Yes, but she is crazy with super human powers. She is playing the card of "men deserve to suffer after treating me like this" that seems to be prevalent and acceptable these days.   Could she be speaking for all of the times women have felt powerless due to a breakup and wanted revenge?  Men "deserve whatever they get" while if it were reversed she would immediately be seen as the deserving victim who needs and gets VAWA services.

You make bullshit statements like this regularly, and you expect us to believe you are not a feminist. You are just looking for a way to say "wimmin are the real victims here" and you completely, willfully ignore the obvious fact we are supposed to laugh at the man's suffering from the hands of his vengeful ex-girlfriend.

The fact is you are trolling as usual, and you will get away with it as usual.

No, no. The bad movie to see this year is Snakes on a Plane.

I thought S.O.A.P. Looked stupid, funny, and entertaining. It may be bad but it will have Samuel L. Jackson.

Another movie of jilted females exacting their revenge: John Tucker Must Die. Saw the trailer last week. Disgusting.

Another movie that excuses abusive female behavior by making said woman out to be crazy in a funny, cute way.
