I wonder if today we should have a "deity converstation" about the world the way that Plato discussed deity all of those thousands of years ago - to bring truth back into the human conscience as the most important factor! Again, describe deity to me without using examples!

All this... and no University degree!

Screw Academia!

BTW, I wonder what the true beginning of academia, (ie Aristotle's version of academia) would have commentated about our version of the perversion of its former self?

Any takers?

I think he'd say it all went down hill after the buttsexxor became gauche.

Dan:  No, I don't think that the current push to deal with AIDS (whether or not it's caused by HIV, global warming or a lack of vitamin C) is a hate campaign against men.  I personally think that what you're seeing is a manifestation of the endemic discrimination against men in all areas of public health, not just HIV/AIDS research.  IMO if there is a hate movement againt men in this area (and I personally think describing it as a "hate movement" is too strong), it's in the broader context of public health.

Rob, point taken re. academia, however, I didn't mean to imply that academics are infallible.  In fact, all academics - and people in general - are often wrong, it's just that some of them are wrong less often than others.  Peer-review indeed does not guarantee accuracy or correctness, but IMO it's better than a non peer-reviewed free-for-all.  Further, academia in not some monolithic institution, it's a loose congregation of very diverse disciplines, some of which are more rigorous and have higher standards than others.  Indeed, when it comes to professional standards the difference between, e.g., women's studies and physics is like night and day.  I personally believe in the scientific principle because it has served us well for many centuries.  YMMV.
"Men in teams... got the human species from caves to palaces. When we watch men's teams at work, we pay homage to 10,000 years of male achievements; a record of vision, ingenuity and Herculean labor that feminism has been too mean-spirited to acknowledge."  Camille Paglia

I follow you.

I continue with the "market" penetration, and "Do not offend your target market" theory of advertising.  Which coincides with your theory on all of the health institute.  Since it's controlled by the drug companies, who market to women, we have the answer.  In my opinion.

Can't argue with this - sounds reasonable to me.

Dan, why would the U.S government be attempting to stabalise Africa's population if they wanted to exploit it as a nation? surely we're already doing a pretty good job as it is.

and why would any government want to reduce population further in the US? when it's birthrate is already falling far below the replacement level.

i'm sorry... Mr X. Global warming in summer, and global cooling in winter?

insolation levels remain the same the whole year round, the heat equator moves a bit, thats all.

Who says they're stabalizing it?  It's like Orwell, "Up is Down" Left is Right, Good is Bad.  Stabilizing is Destabalizing.  They have control.  That's the point.

Lots of reasons.  The Canadian governement's number two cashcow is unclaimed inheritance.  Number two!  Oddly, it's rarely mentioned.  I suspect the US is no different.  And that's just one reason.

I still think what Bill and Melinda Gates were saying was typically hate speech.
