K9,

We ultimately do have choice over what we do.

Even if the "desire" is not a choice, the decision
to act on the desire is a choice.

I desire a lot of things that I don't actually do.

I don't take another man's wife although I may desire
her. I don't take his car or airplane or ranch although
I may desire it. I don't beat the shit out of the cop
who pulled me over for no reason and gave me a
BS ticket although I may desire to do it, etc.

I suppose it probably is true that the homosexual attraction
may not be a choice in many instances but again the decision
to act upon the desire is a choice.

I personally think that some desires just have to be restrained
if society is to function -- milllions or even billions of people
have to act by some basic rules if society is to survive.

The bible very definitely takes the position at least in the Old
Testament that homosexuality is bad (along with a lot of  other things).

Is it cruel to suggest that homosexuals cannot do what they desire?
Possibly, true. Is it cruel to say I cannot do everything I desire?
I don't think so. These are all very difficult questions, admittedly.

Has there ever been a strong, healthy society with rampent homosexuality? I don't think so. Am I believing BS that I have heard?
Possibly. But, I think historically that as society have tolerated homosexuality they have gone into decline.

I am sorry if I offend you. Homosexuality is an attack on what has always been the fundamental building block of civilization -- the family comprised of an man, wife, children, and hopefully grand parents and other relatives.

As much as I believe the traditional family is essential for a truly healthy society, hell will probably freeze over before I try to do it myself again.

Bi-sexuals CHOOSE. The rest of us are stuck with what we're given. Did you choose to be a hetero?

Um...yes actually.
We all have the option to make choices..don't we?
But, then again, we have to live with the concequences!
Unless another round of "special exceptions" are the call for the day.

Oh sure, donated sperm, in vitro, surrogate mothers, and any other
attempt to deny THE FACTS OF LIFE sounded compassionate and promising.

As with ANY attempt to falsely claim compassion for those deemed "less fortunate" the disingenious, nay, criminal element rears it's ugly head in a nod to greed,
leaving behind a wake of unintended concequence for the vast majority to clean up.

Golly, why don't those folk seeking semen target inner city establishments that cater to "and their allies"? I've heard tell that such places are awash with the stuff, and quite a variety too!

One would think that the folks once considered allies when there was heavy lifting to be done would not be
simply discarded when their assets were subsequently considered less than optimum?

Message to all men:

DO NOT "donate" your sperm. It is yours to father children with as YOU choose, when YOU choose and with whom YOU choose and ONLY as YOU choose. It's too valuable and too personal to just give away.

Message to homosexuals:

You choose a lifestyle that by its very nature precludes children. TOO BAD. Live your choice.

YES!
ust because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they AREN'T out to get you.

Why yes I did.  Ya see, a long time ago, in a bathroom far far away, I discovered that moving a bowel can sometimes be painful.  I had an epiphany.... If this hurts coming out, I can't imagine something going in being that great either!

TADAH!  I am hetro!

Maybe if women had to actually work to find sperm, maybe stop acting the way they do and taking advantage of men, then they would not be in this position. Perhaps instead of trying to get men to donate sperm, they should tell women to grow up.

Well, Jen, that's too logical, makes too much sense, and therefore is totally unfeminist.  Thus, I doubt that it will ever happen.   ;)
"Men in teams... got the human species from caves to palaces. When we watch men's teams at work, we pay homage to 10,000 years of male achievements; a record of vision, ingenuity and Herculean labor that feminism has been too mean-spirited to acknowledge."  Camille Paglia

From what I understand, sperm donors are no longer allowed to remain anonymous in the UK, so 20 years down the line your kids can come knocking on your door, and as Zarby has said there have been cases of child support payments being forced upon the father.

You might as well just get some girl pregnant and then pay her child support for the next 18 years and not complain when she won't let you see the child.

Same end result.

Unless MORE judges decide that in the case of a female child, they ARE NOT to be considered responsable adults by the age of 18, and one must pay for the duration of that childs  college "education" as well.  THAT could drag on MUCH longer and be QUITE a questionable investment!

(sheesh, can't find the case in question!!)

No need, that's straight-up black letter law in Canada.  Right there in the divorce act.
