Child abuse is reported on an average of every 10 seconds and 3 children die every day as a result of such abuse.
And who's doing the abuse? Also 3 children a day amounts to 1095 children a year out of a population of over 300 million. That's less that .000365% of the population. I'm not belittling the death of children but this is not an endemic situation. And again, who's doing the killing? Do the kids left in the back seats of cars by careless moms count?
30% of all murders are women being killed by their partnershttp://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/cvict_v.htm
"According to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports, most murder victims were male, 79% in 2005."
"About 11% of murder victims were determined to have been killed by an intimate
Most murder victims were familiar with their assailants.
Spouses and family members made up about 15% of all victims.
About one-third of the victims were acquaintances of the assailant.
In 14% of all murders, the victim and the offender were strangers.
The victim/offender relationship was undetermined in about one-third of homicides.
So clearly the 30% stat is false or misleading.
In 87% of violent homes, children witness the battering.
Battering by whom and do they also witness verbal abuse etc by mothers?
A Woman is beaten every 9 seconds in the U.S
And a man every 11 seconds.
Also beware of tricks of statistics. A claim like "99% of all rape is caused by men" may sound harsh but 1. If rape is defined by the forced penetration by a female by a male then yes, only men can cause rape and 2. If you have a population of 1 million and there are 10 rapes and 9 of them are caused by men, is that significant?
If you look at the bureau of justice website you'll see that ALL violent crime has gone down and that men are still the greatest victims of violent crime including murder. http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/glance/tables/vsxtab.htm
Men are the bigger victims in society, not women. Also there is no such thing as a crime of man on man. You don't ignore the plight of a victim because they have the same sex or skin color as their attacker. If that were the case then all women are responsible for the Andrea Yates of this world and we men should ignore all crimes committed by women against women.
