CAFC to close its doors?

The California Alliance for Families and Children (CAFC) may soon be closing its doors.  This is the only full-time lobbying operation in the entire men's and father's movement.  A key donor that supplied 2/3 of their budget just dropped out, due to the lack of support by the larger community beyond the meager $30k that the CAFC was operating under.  We stand to lose a tremendous amount of political influence if this happens.

There are two calls to action to prevent this.  Read more here:

Is this the one that Mike Robinson is involved in?  Mike is a powerhouse and has done plenty to help our cause.  Let's hope they find some funds.  Damn.  We can't get $30k wh ile the fems get BILLIONS.  Can you say FUNDING GAP???  Where's the equality?  Oh yeah, there isn't any.

Yes, this is the one with Michael Robinson.  We're not just looking at losing a lobbying operation, but also issue advocates, and facilitators of training conferences for family law professionals to combat the misandry they are bombarded with in the existing government-supported training.

The point of the article is rank-and-file people like us haven't taken it seriously enough to invest any of our money.  We're hoping on government grants like the feminists receive.  But what we don't realize is that the feminists didn't get to where they are by sheer political force.  They organized, and raised their own money.  They had fundraising events, sought individual donors, got on the ground and had bake sales...  Whatever was necessary to raise the money.  We can't hope for some magic solution to come out of our state or national capitols.  It's up to us, as individuals, to really demonstrate our commitment.  Are we committed merely to blogging, or can we commit to $20 a month?  I know about a donor in Florida who donates $5 per month without fail, regularly.   Some of us make a salary in the high 5 figures, or even 6 figures.  Surely we can donate something on a recurring basis.

Thanks, TPTM!

Here's how to donate (mailing address, and/or donating electronically):

I have been giving them $100/month myself.  But the important thing is to give what you can, rather than not at all.

Apparently there are critics.
Any idea who the malcontent commentee on MND is, and what the issue is?
Was that a post just to throw gasoline and fire up the situation?

If not a violation of anonymity, who are the alleged "big donors" who have pulled out
due to non-support by others?

The first bit MUST be addressed.
The second bit, well, you never know when some "unknown" might be willing to challange- match their previous (and verified) donations if they were willing to resume!

Just sayin'

The rabble-rouser is WLS, a.k.a. William Spence, who used to be a member of a fathers group called COPS back in the 1990s.  That group tried to do some good work, but all the members disbanded.  This is addressed in detail in the comments at MND.  Spence is bitter because he's not being praised for his efforts, while the CAFC is (and the CAFC has produced far more for their efforts).

The donor who pulled out should probably stay anonymous, unless he or Michael Robinson reveals the name.  I imagine that he'll change his mind if there's enough interest generated among the larger MRM to start funding the CAFC; he withdrew his funding because there was not enough interest in the larger community in donating, and he was sick of being the only one.  I don't blame him.  I have his name, but don't want to piss the guy off by revealing it unless I know that it's okay.  I'll find out and post it here later if it turns out the guy wouldn't mind.

Perhaps they could merge with ACFC and Fathers and Families. It will be a very serious loss if they end up disbanding. They might be the only group pressuring Schwarzenegger to resist all the garbage concoted by the virulent manhaters in Sacramento.

.

The CAFC once was an affiliate of the ACFC, and Mike McCormick of the ACFC promised that any funds raised for the ACFC out of California would go toward the CAFC, then the affiliate in that state.  Not a penny was ever sent, and later, McCormick told the CAFC that he was misunderstood.

If the ACFC does merge again with the CAFC, it would be for the purpose of helping it survive with financial support, rather than just an affiliate designation.  In fact, just being an affiliate of the ACFC obligates the affiliate to send money to the ACFC in the form of membership dues.  If so much money is going into the ACFC in the form of contributions, and they haven't passed a single law or blocked any damaging bills, what good is the money doing?  A merger should involve supporting the full-time lobbying effort of the CAFC, which has gotten astounding results.

WELL! shut my mouth!
I believe the response at MND was a superior piece. Well done!
I wish Mike could keep his nose out though, there might be much less confusion!
I thought you stood your ground quite well, all by yourself thangkewverimuch!

Understood, but better keep it to the principal involved only!

Well, I extend a venue to my E-Mail, (see profile) or a PM here.
"No Further Response" is quite understandable as well.

Make no mistake.
I have every intention of standing cheek by jowl with such folk,
as well as chiding, goading, taunting, ribbing, schmoozing, and otherwise pleading, as many folk as it takes to get The  Honorable Gov. Schwartzenager (sp?) to stand up before the State chapter of N.O.W. (and their allies), The Family court "officials", as well as the legislature and say
"This is BULLSHIT, and I'm going to kick your ass!"

Who knows, maybe the other coast would follow suit!

I think it would be fitting if he told those ladies, "You are all just a bunch of Manly Girls."

OK, so I tinkle on Glen Sacks from time to time.
There's no way I can offer anything but accolades for THIS

A couple weeks ago I reported that policy consultant Michael Robinson of the California Alliance for Families and Children helped lead successful opposition to AB 612, and that the bill had been amended and defanged. Robinson worked with the Family Law Executive Committee of the California State Bar (Flexcom), the California Psychologists Association (CPA), the Association of Family Conciliation Courts (AFCC), the California Judges Association, and others....

Robinson is one of the most effective advocates in our movement, and I urge all to support him. To donate to the California Alliance for Families and Children, click here. To learn more about Parental Alienation, click here. The bill may well be back next year, so we need to remain on top of this issue.

That just CAN'T smooth the feathers of WLS.

.

After the effort I made in my last blog posting, and now Glenn's posting about the CAFC's latest victory (a momentous one, in a state of 30 million people), Michael Robinson called me today and said that since my blog posting, they've only received $25.

The CAFC is going down...  I sure wish people would take this more seriously.
