Ignore Feature

We have installed a new "Ignore" feature which allows you to add any board member to your list of people being ignored and you won't see their posts on threads.  The board will automatically omit their responses or their posts they initiate.  You will need to be in the "SubSilver" theme in order to have the ignore function work properly.

It also allows you to disallow contact via pm and will keep your contact information private from the people you choose to "disallow."  There is also a buddy list for those who you find friendly.

Let's test this out for a while and see how it goes.  I think it's a great idea if it functions okay.  I have tested it a bit and it seems to work fine.  We will give it a couple of days to a week and decide at that point what to do.  

If you want to play with it I have created a screen name "Test Dummy" which you can ignore or disallow and get a sense of how it works.

The easiest way to work with this is through the membership list where you can click a smiley or frowny to add someone to your buddy/ignore/disallow list.  You will also see that in your profile you will have an extra control panel for these functions and you will be able to see there who you are ignoring and well as who is ignoring you.

It works.

The Buddy Management prmpts me with "Are you  sure you wish to make those change??" But I can't see the 'yes' or 'no' to click in the square.

So I have to hit TAB and the ENTER to ok it.

Could you make the prompt square bigger?

Hi Beste

Have you put TD on your ignore list via your profile?  Remember, you must be in the subsilver theme in order to set this up to work.

Go to your profile and click the hyperlink near the top that says:

Manage Buddy/Ignore/Disallow Lists

Click "Ignoring" and see if TD is listed.  If not, add him in the username box and click "add user."  Let me know how it works...or not.

Did you go to your profile and click on the

Manage Buddy/Ignore/Disallow Lists

After that click on the "ignoring" link and put a check mark in the poster you want to reinstate.  Click that add user at the bottom and click the are you sure link that appears.  That should do it.

That worked but if you can make the Ignore feature also remove them from the ignore list when clicking on them a second time, it would work great.

The real test is going to be if it scales.

Okay, we don't have that many concurrent users at the moment. Most I've seen logged on is 6-7 at once.  However, if the board gets to a point where we have 40-50(or considerably more) concurrent at once it may send the processor spinning for a loop.

Uh Doc, what is the point of having an ignore feature on a debate forum? If all the adversaries are ignoring each other you might as well change the name from SYG to Coffee Klatch.

I think the ignore thing is sort of weird for a board as limited in membership and activity as this one, and like Byron said, you still get warned for insulting those who can't even see you're insulting them, which is stupid.

The one thing I like is the ability to watch those who like to dish it out run for the ignore button and click on it. :lol:

So do the buttfuckers realize that when they put you on ignore you get a big announcement about it?   I mean, that's pretty funny.   At least I can say what I think if them if they're ignoring me right?  I mean they'll never see it so who does it hurt?   Beste buttmunch
