I am thinking about designing a small, html based feministing truth site, which goes through the list of ways that the website Feministing is evil. I will host it on private webspace, and use a temporary co.nr domain until I get a .org domain. Would anyone like to volunteer help or research? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Feministing is a blog for profit, only idiots read that crap and swallow it whole anyways. Don't waste your time on something that is simply reactionary. Use your energies to write things that demonstrate originality, vitality and creativity without regards to what the cows over there are doing.

My thoughts...

Well, I have time on my hands, so I figure a static site that says that feministing is evil might take  a bite out of their profit. They make that profit off hate, by the way, so I feel it's in good consience to do so.

I don't think your idea is a bad one but using the word 'evil' would be a big mistake. It smacks too much of a 'fundy' rantsite and would turn off non christians. It is this careless use of language that can potentially make or break a site. For example I am generally in favour of the website anti-misandry UNTIL a google search took me to one of their postings where I saw radical feminists being described as 'femcunts' - not very smart use of language UNLESS ones conception of men's rights is to only appeal to the 'converted' and even as a member of the 'converted' I found that 'word' offensive how much more then would someone find it who is undecided on such issues??

So how about well-sourced, well documented analysis of their wrongs?

Who'd read it?  I mean, honestly it would seem a total redundancy.  We all talk of "I'll create a site" instead of adding a list, like MRA did, of feminist fallacies wherein it is readily available.

Also, it seems like it'll be received as a PROOF that MRAs are just haters - and it'll pump up their sense of self importance.

Just my thoughts.

Steven
'Watch our backs at home, we'll guard the wall over here. You can sleep safe tonight, we'll guard the door."

Isaiah 6:8
"Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

It could always be done in a non-MRA point of view, as just a casual witness.

In other words, less like http://www.feminazi.com/ and more like http://www.firefoxmyths.com/

There was a spoof site called feministing.org that someone set up a few years ago at:

http://www.feministing.org

It was quite a scream, and included notable Patriarchs like Thomas Fullery as comedic foils.

Unfortunately, it petered out after about a year or so, and when I tried to access it I got:

Quote
It doesn't look like you've installed WP yet. Try running install.php.

I don't have time to mess with that right now, so I wonder if anyone else can access it.

I would add that the spoof site required a lot of effort on the part of the creator.

I laughed... they don't have database access and that's funny.

It's good to know that this is treaded territory though. I'm thinking it'd be nice to have some more moderate feminists weigh in, perhaps say how sites like feministing hurt the feminists that really want liberation for both genders (they do exist by the way)

Actually Nillerz I DO see the value of a methodical analysis or 'deconstruction' of their pet theories, policies and actions. If the language was controlled and did not resort to hyperbole and expletives such a website could be effectively cited when putting viewpoints across in a wide range of media.  :toothy9:
