Feministing.com is demanding that men pay their girlfriends half the cost of birth control:
http://www.feministing.com/archives/011440.html

Jessica Valenti wrote a column in reply to a recent Dear Abby column, in which a woman wrote in claiming that her live-in boyfriend ought to share the cost of her $40/month birth control pills, since they already share living expenses.  Abby replied that expenses for personal items shouldn't be shared, comparing birth control to Viagra, and suggested that the woman should pay for her own birth control.

Feministing.com took issue with Abby, saying that it's only fair to expect a man to pay.  One feminist commenter actually wrote this in response to Abby's column:

Dude doesn't chip in, dude doesn't get pussy. End of story.

Let's see...  At $40/month, that comes out to $1.33 per day. Half that amount is 67 cents, the daily amount that the man is expected to pay to contribute to "his share" of the birth control costs.

I think that any woman who expects her man to pay as a condition for sex is putting a price on her sexuality. The cheapest prostitutes might charge $10 for a mere hand job, but apparently her price is only 67 cents for full service.  Gotta love fairness.

And it's probably not even worth that much money.

What feminists always seem to forget is that women have some kind of innate drive to "marry up" or get a successful type of boyfriend in a lot of cases. Not always, but statistically men earn more than their wives or girlfriends, especially as you start getting away from high school and college-type situations. 35-year-old women are looking for money, not a flashy quarterback.

So it's kind of amusing to me that they stress about about every little instance where the woman might have to pay for something out of her own pocket, and they just forget about the instances where a woman gets a house paid for because of a man.

Side note: My blood pressure has come down quite a bit since I quit reading Feministing, Pandagon, Hugo and Ampersand.

I just don't care about those dolts anymore.

Every relationship that I've seen that nickels and dimes themselves to death to pay equal amounts of everything has failed.

That being said considering they are both using the birth control to stop pregnancy they should both pay, actually they should really both pay because no ones should want a child conceived in a relationship which nickels and dimes itself for 40 bucks a month. Splitting diaper costs would just blow their minds and leave the poor kid in a broken home.

It's much better when the man doesn't think about nickels and dimes and just pays.

And pays.

Then everyone is happy.

Well then, if it's such a bargain to buy the birth control, why then do you assume that the default when a man refuses to chip in is pregnancy?  Why not just expect the woman to pay for birth control?  The man can buy his own condoms, mitigating his risk (ensuring that he doesn't have to rely on her promises or vigilance to take the pill).

Is it not in the woman's interest to take full responsibility?

Just think, for a minute, about what a sorry Sad Sack this girl's boyfriend has to be. If she's going to cut off the sex for a small amount he has to pay, she's going to cut off the sex for a larger issue. And almost all issues are bigger than this.

He better get used to getting manipulated by her or should LOOK ... and SEE ... what he is hooked up with. Nothing worthy of respect and nothing to hang around for.

I also think it's funny that the "common wisdom" is that women communicate better. THIS woman's form of communication is the brute force of cutting off the only thing she has to offer him, NOT to actually talk to him. And men usually say what's on their mind in a straightforward way. I am afraid that all too many women operate like this woman - with manipulation when a man really communicates what he is thinking. Some myths really have to be busted about women and communication.

Where is the support for viable male contraception from the Valentes of this world?

In 95% of things 100% of people are alike. It's the other 5%, the bits that are different, that make us interesting. It's also the key to our existence, and future, as a species.

Are they suggesting that the women pay 1/2 for the condoms?

We know what happens if she forgets to take the pill.  What happens if the man forgets to pay one day?  Does she get pregnant?  Will the man get equal parenting? :rolle:  Tell femi-whatever to come back when they have a serious complaint about inequality like so many fathers and men do.
Life, Liberty, & Pursuit of Happiness are fundamental rights for all (including males), & not contingent on gender feminist approval or denial. Consider my "Independence" from all tyrannical gender feminist ideology "Declared" - Here & Now!

I guess she doesn't feel that denial of sex in order to gain control is abuse. Well at least if it is a woman doing it. Just like the Duluth Wheel shows. If HE doe it to HER it is domestic violence and she has the right to take everything with him booted to the street. If SHE does it to HIM it is no big deal.
