So here's a thoughtful thread disguised as a stupid one, reply to it.

I'm with Cune, I've always thought it was a legume.

This from the front page of my health insurance company (Guardian)

Women's Channel
Scholarships for career-motivated girls, tools and support for busy women.

The word "man" or "men" or "men's" doesn't appear once on that page.

Why?  Because why should a scholarship be wasted on a stupid, drunk, bad father, wife beater like the typical male?

Goto any health facility and you will see "woman," "women," or "women's" on atleast twice as much literature as you will see "man," "men," or "men's".

Goto any college campus in America, and you'll see women's issues posters/organizations ALL OVER!  But you probably won't find a single poster/organization for men's issues.  Don't men have issues too?

Goto Google, and search for "men's issues" you'll find about 1/3 to 1/2 the hits as for "women's issues"

hey, this might not be a perfect statistical view, but if a search that diverse keeps turning up approximately the same results, I think it certainly points to the likelyhood that men are UNDER represented in the media.

How many channels are there for women?  Let's see... Lifetime, WE, umm... I know there's atleast a few more, that's if you dont count home and garden channels and jewelry channels.

How many channels are there for men?  Let's see... Spike TV... and that's it!  Unless you count the playboy channel.

in the state department of taxation and finance (NY) where I worked as a temporary employee for 6 months, there was actually a bed in a room sectioned off from the women's bathroom.  but not one in the men's bathroom.  Women deserve to lay down and rest, but men do not.

You know another thing totally unrelated that has been bugging me lately, like ever since 9/11....  The political right is firmly in power at the time being, and all I keep hearing from them is complaints about the left!  I'd like to know what was so bad about living under the Clinton Administration... was it all the peace, all the booming economy, all the freedom, all the environmental conservation programs, or was it really just all the c**k sucking going on in the oval office?

Ohh, Clinton was a passifist slacker, who let evil regimes go unchecked.  Really?  I coulda sworn he was the guy who stopped Slobodan Milosevic, a well known dictator and promoter of genocide in the Balkans.  You know, it wasn't that Clinton didn't take care of business, it was that he was so good at taking care of business people couldn't believe he was really trying, he made it look too easy!

Personally I thought Clinton might well have been our best president since JFK.

I just kinda felt like posting that for no good reason, and I didn't want to start a new thread

Taken from the FAQ section of http://www.peanut-institute.org/:

Quote
Are peanuts legumes?

Yes. Peanuts, along with beans and peas, belong to the single plant family, Leguminosae. Legumes are edible seeds enclosed in pods. As a group, they provide the best source of concentrated protein in the plant kingdom. While their physical structure and nutritional benefits more closely resemble that of other legumes, their use in diets and cuisines more closely resembles that of nuts

So technically, it is a pea I guess?

Nichov,

Try riding public transportation sometime. Here in DC there are always ads for breast cancer awareness, federal studies on womens' health issues, and ads by hospitals and clinics for their womens' health centers.

On the other hand, you might every once in a while find an ad about prostate cancer.
