Well then, how do you think it could change? You pretty much agree that there aren't any good job options for most of these people (or you would have mentioned some). If we just abolished all welfare, what would happen?

They would then have motivation to better themselves.

If they're just lazy or unproductive, they're going to disadvantage the rest of us no matter what. Since society has determined that we can't just kill them or let them starve, this is not a good reason to oppose 'welfare'.

We'll ignore the "kill them" canard, since it is both a strawman and a lie.

Please provide the constitutional cite for not allowing the slothful and indolent to reap the just consequences of their choice.

Of course welfare helps people. As you just said, they rationally choose it over working, so it must be better. And no, no one gets satisfaction from working at low-end service jobs.

They think they're overburdened martyrs, when actually they're just idiots, thinking they can kick their husbands out and raise kids on their own. A few years back there was a wildly popular bumper sticker: "Thank You, Murphy Brown...From A Single Mother". Meaning, millions of single mothers were thanking a woman that DIDN'T EXIST. Single Mothers ought to reconnect with their children's fathers (before their kids become crooks, like the statistics confirm), and Single Men need to BOYCOTT dating single mothers until they do.

He has made personal attacks on me in just about every post, and no one could fail to see it. While I endeavor to keep discussions as civil as possible; he makes them less than civil. And why is it that you show up only to post these warnings? People like Gonz are completely repugnant, and indeed the word 'asshole' was made to describe such people; they are not simply wrong, they are worse than that.

So you want to get rid of me? Lots of people don't like to listen to arguments for opposing positions; they feel threatened by them (if only subconsciously), as you and Gonz do by me. People want to form their mental fiefdoms that are not threatened by the incursion of contradictory ideas - willful ignorance indeed. You are a coward, or else just as contemptible as he is, for this action.

We are beset by lack of cooperation, and I have pointed out the only solution. I set up my wiki to try to start on something new that would help us all, but you prefer to whine in your comfortable illusions. We need to attract more men - thousands, hundreds of thousands, to our views, and we can't do it with this kind of polarisation, nor indeed with people like Gonz being any sort of public face.

As for myself, I remain devoted to free speech, to my personal dignity (as much as people like you try to destroy it), and to the belief that truth makes one free - and conversely, that closing one's mind is submission.

Most single moms never had a husband. I'd say a third never had a boyfriend/dad in the picture.

I have no problem with a women who can afford a great home and nanny's etc having a child, at least that's another child growing up with decent genes and a home that can provide for them. I have a huge problem with drop them out to collect the check moma's . How any welfare moma could consider herself in anyway like "Murphy Brown"  is beyond me.
