Another aspect: Maybe humans are simply INCAPABLE of knowing the ultimate truth - just like your pet cat does not see the chain of events leading up to its can of catfood. The can is just there. The cat is incapable of understanding the overall system.

At least a cat will whine ONLY when it is hungry or in need.   Feminists on the other hand...

More on topic: I personally wouldn't touch a Christian/traditional woman with a 20-foot barge pole, but I just know from experience that there would be a conflict from Day 1.

I once followed a link to a post on a forum for Christian singles. Unfortunately, I no longer have it, but it was an eye-opener. The Christian women were discussing the lack of good men today. They all wanted to quit work and stay at home, but there were just boys out there and not Real Men who were willing to support and finance that. Then they launched into a hate-filled diatribe about how irresponsible all men are.

No thanks.

I think there are some (maybe a few) non-radical feminists who are reasonable. Christine Hoff Summers is actually a feminist, just not a believer in the present-day "get all you can get for women" brand of feminism.

But mostly they will not discuss anything, they will using shaming and chivalry and every dirty trick that has a chance of working to get what they want.

Thankfully there are women in the world who are not at either extreme:

If the only choices in the world were fundamentalist Christian women who were going to give you orders on how to run your life according to their restrictive ideas or ... Amanda Marcotte clones as the other choice, I would have to learn how to reproduce asexually.

Lady Lydia repeatedly wrote that the LAF (a play on words?) crowd are not "a bunch of Luddites." Does anybody know what a Luddite is?

Someone who is afraid of technology. Someone who wishes to live in simpler times like being a farmer.

Of course.  I'll bet that not one time ever did any of those women consider that the men they encountered, probably saw that attitude of "what's hers is hers and what's yours is hers, too" and ran the hell away from them.  Hint hint ladies: if you aren't attracting the mate you want, maybe its you.

Well, God turned his back. They all say it yet they say he weeps over the destruction.

Well, maybe he does but that isn't solving the problems. That is just ignoring them.

SInce you claim to be a Catholic, let me introduce you to a doctrinal concept called "Free Will."

It's God being the great cosmic libertarian:  "I am giving you life.  And not making you a robot.  Here's the world, and here is your user manual.  Your life will be better if you live by it.  If you don't, shit will cock-up, and there will be consequences."

People don't seem to realize that part of God making the bad things go away would have to include restricting your right to choose the bad things you do.  There would be no personal volition.  No human nobility.  How could something be noble, without the free choice to behave ignobly?

I raved and there could have been a lot of things to pick on but out of all if it I am glad you chose this bit.

I probably should mention I am not good at being a Catholic. A family friend Catholic priest who had known me since I was born married my husband and I. He was there as my mother's dear friend up until she died. They would trek a lot together so my mother could appreciate the beauty in the world while she was still had life.

Anyhoo, this priest had been a biker and worked the streets as his work for God and he knew me since I was born so there was very little he didn't understand about the human behaviours of the time.

But you are right 100%. Free will has it's value even though people make mistakes that can be very costly and have severe consequences.  And yet the consequences themselves through the work within oneself that are spiritual can be a great gift.

And besides, when I compare the west and Christianity to the East and the Koran, I can see that the west allowed free will while the Koran has kept men constantly repeating their holy words as a way to make them submit.

And then I remember the words of the successful.

Secret to success:

How do you become successful?

Answer: Two words; good decisions!

How do you make good decisions?

Answer: Two words; bad decisions!

We only got to where we are because of free will. And I for one think we (as western humans) did a bloody good job!!!!  :greener:
Ignorance is the Oppressor, Vigilance the Liberator.
