I dunno, the more of these articles I read, the more I realize Feminists, and generally women, are REALLY scared of this.  The urge to emphasize the anti-feminist aspect of the MRM continues on to this discipline, along with the attendant mischaracterization of both Gender- and Women's- Studies as "already filling the role".

I think it's important to state, over and over again, that as MRAs we tried for literally decades to get Feminists to listen to us, to our concerns, to realize man-hate can't be dressed up to be acceptable, and fundamental change was neccessary for Feminism if it was to be relevant.

And they refused.

They can't bitch if we actually take their "advice", and do it all on our own, now can they?

Come on Factory, you know feminists better than that...    :toothy9:
"Men in teams... got the human species from caves to palaces. When we watch men's teams at work, we pay homage to 10,000 years of male achievements; a record of vision, ingenuity and Herculean labor that feminism has been too mean-spirited to acknowledge."  Camille Paglia

Men's studies is pointless cause no matter what it will be controlled by the school administrations who are mostly left leaning. What will happen is the class will be a giant male guilt trip in which boys are taught they owe women. It will be a patriarchy induction class, that's all. In fact I would say it would be merely an extension of feminist studies only the captive audience are men.

Reminds me of the X-Show that was on Fox. It was supposed to be like a men's magazine show for players and the like. What sports teams are hot, what clothes to wear, how to land jobs, how to repair things, discuss male issues etc. Second season they dump all the guys save for the black guy, bring on a girl as the main host and two dork comedians. Then the show was about people from broadway, discussion about lesbians, how to treat women nice, what a man is supposed to do for women at a party, how men are supposed to help women, women's issues and how men can help etc etc etc.

So male studies will be the same thing. It may start out OK at first but will quickly be assimilated by the borg queen and be nothing more than indoctrination classes. In fact it may even be worse for men cause then the schools can say "See! We have a men's studies program so STFU."
Feminists - "Verbally beating men like dumb animals or ignoring them is all we know and its not working."

We should post some replies on these sites, if only to break up the Koffee Klatch.

On the Washingtoncitypaper blog, you can flag comments. I just flagged one in which the poster stated a desire to punch Lionel Tiger in the neck. Please use this flag function as much as possible. Thanks.

Im not sure if I agree with that, lets just wait until oct 1-2 when they have the male studies conference to see what they are planning before we jump to conclusions.

.

I just found a podcast at Canada's National Post which covered the Male Studies symposium.  They treated it with neutrality, but seemed to be respectful to the aims of the conference.  I was impressed (neutrality and non-bias impresses me).

Interesting bit on Fox about it. Not a big fan of this host but at least the discussion is decent in many aspects.

very nice find, I agree that the host is extremelly annoying but at least their is some coverage on it that is decently fair.

Also John a great find as well, I think thats probably the "fairest" article I have seen on male studies so far....of course it doesnt help that its been mostly feminists reporting on it.

I rarely miss an episode of Redeye. The program is a little strange but their take on current events is usually spot on. Host Greg Gutfeld is usually sympathetic to the MRA point of view. The male studies program received the usual facetious Redeye treatment but the response was generally favorable. The Redeye gang can be quite merciless to anything they don't like so I consider this one to be a win.
