Sure it does.  Being screamed at, sometimes being spit on, being called all sorts of vile names, dude THAT happens in DV "victim empathy courses", and on those you are still "free" (not in prison).  Now imagine how it is for prisoners. See, I am a "victim" (I hate that word - I prefer SURVIVOR) of a false allegation of rape.  No, I never went to prision, but that is what got me into the movement.  I stand up for fathers due to my own past (parental break up and what I experienced).  Sometimes, we fasely accused rapists are kinda the black sheep in the men's movement.  I mean, people are supportive HERE, but ours is a prickly subject.  Ok, I accept that, so I fight for fathers and men falsely accused of DV, and the general anti-male myths that are out there.  It'll be a while before men like me can get the laws changed on false allegations of rape, so I do what I can.  That being said, no, I never went to prison, but I faced the possibility, and it scared the SH*T out of me.  I mean, I am 5' 11'' and 220 pounds (ok, ok, a LITTLE of it is fat  :P   ) and I have been in the Infantry, played Rugby, studied a LOT of martial arts etc etc ... but PRISON is FULL of PREDATORS and I didn't relish the idea of facing off 5 to 1 (and I doubt it would be a "fair fight").  So, I do what I can by adding articles, information, and writing letters.   Sorry I wrote you a book.  Thought it would help you understand why I fight so hard and am so blunt on this issue.

With Respects,

Torturing people causes them to snap.   Consider battered wives.  Does it make sense to make angry people angrier?  That may serve punitive purposes, but it is very counterproductive.  I would be scared to be a batterer treatment provider even if they paid me a lot.

I was not accused of anything, but I was a victim of abuse.  I was abused for 13 years (ages 8-21).  Is it equivalent to a 13 year prison sentence?  I called my hose back then by the name "small house" after "big house".

But after the stuff I read I would say that my life with mentally abusive stepmother is no worse then minimum security prison.  Maximum security is probably much worse then I can imagine.

I would do everything to bring public attention to injustice done to me.  I would spare no energy to do so the rest of my life.  I would go to Jerry Springer show.
