No, you can only consider it to be possibly demonic when medical and psychiatric means "have been exhausted first", at which time you may be authorized to attempt an exorcism.

Oh, now it's "people" dying during exorcisms, not children; and they are not necessarily being "tortured" prior to their demise.

Could you give us some examples of children tortured to death because of religious beliefs ... concrete examples, that is. Could you give us some that do not involve the Catholic Church? You allude to one, Christian Science, which is very different from Catholicism. Are we to assume exorcisms are "botched" to such a degree of frequency as to be worthy of mention here? How do you define "botched" regarding exorcisms? What do you base your definition on? Are you aware that exorcisms in the Catholic Church aren't even considered until all other medical and psychiatric means of addressing the situation have been exhausted first? Are you aware that "Catholic" identifies many other churches besides Rome (Old Catholic, Liberal Catholic, to name just two)?

Paul - that's the Mahikari religion of Japan. They perform ritual exorcisms on Volkswagons. Get the book, if it's still in print (Dojo: Magic and Exorcism in Modern Japan, by Winston Davis).
