I dunno about China... But If China does become a greater power, it's not a bad thing. They have deeper cultural roots, and I think that their country resists feminism a bit better than USA.

I can actually envision China owning half the world and us owning the other half (by consolidating with Canada and South America.) I really hope we don't get into military conflict with them because we'd probably have to use nuclear weapons.

you still wouldn't have a chance- i have an atlas somewhere that states how many nukes to make an inneffective fighting force in certain countries

Meh, in a few years the workers will have enough money and stupidity to form unions and then the whole house of cards comes tumbling down. Remember they said all this about Japan and look where Japan is today.

Prosperity never hurt anyone. Before prosperity China was a communist toilet with no hope for any growth and everyone living at poverty level. This video makes out China to be bad but its pretty apparent China is getting better because of markets. Just take a look at China when it was communist.

If China was trading fairly, that would be a different story.

China sells, but they don't buy. That is why we are still in a recession. That is why we are not getting out of it any time soon.

There wages are also far below those in the west.  Just another reason we are all screwed.  We have money to spend (at least for a little while).  They aren't earning much, but are manufacturing like crazy and exporting (selling to us) so they are richer than they used to be.  You might call it a "transfer of wealth."  Enjoy, those cheap Chinese gizmos and gadgets, while they last.  Nero too, enjoyed his fiddle, while Rome burned.

Agreed. Prosperity is always good.

The arguments are lame.

1. China uses slave labor. Yeah so what. Are we going to invade china over it? If they do so why must Americans then not try to produce? Only thing we can do is boycott chinese products but sitting around not working is not a solution.

2. Jobs will be outsourced. Again, so what. A lot of jobs are insourced to the US.

3. China will own the world. Never happens. Every growing country goes through this.

And you'll notice all the arguments are anti chinese or anti capitalism yet none are "Hey America why aren't you competing?" in which the answer would be gov is blocking us among other issues (unions blocking us).
