Britain declares end to 'war on Christmas'

LONDON (AFP) - The Communities and Local Government minister declared the "war on Christmas" over Saturday, urging local authorities to stop avoiding the festival's Christian basis.

"We should actively celebrate the Christian basis of Christmas, and not allow politically correct Grinches to marginalise Christianity and the importance of the birth of Christ," Eric Pickles said in a reference to the Christmas-hating character from a children's book.

"The war on Christmas is over, and the likes of Winterval, Winter Lights and Luminous deserve to be in the dustbin of history," he added.

Despite the economic hard times in Britain, local councils should not be cutting down on Christmas festivities as it was in their own financial interest to encourage shoppers, he added.

"Shoppers want to see Christmas lights, Christmas trees, carol services and nativity scenes, and councils should not hesitate in supporting them."

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning. - W.Churchill.   :laughing6:

Now that it's about the economy, "x-mas" is important again. At least this gov't official is being honest about it. I think Christians should continue the boycott against the Christ-hating Heterogeny. I'm no longer a church going man, but I was at one time a very devout Christian. It's called CHRISTmas.
Will they declare an end to the war on Christ? When will the true faithful rise up to bring Christianity back to its original glory? God helps those that help themselves. Remember the story of the man who was on his rooftop because of a flood. An empty life-raft floated by and became entangled in a tree. "No", though the man. "I will wait for God to rescue me." A search and rescue team stopped for him.   "No", the man shouted "I will wait for God to rescue me." A TV crew chopper offered him a lift.  "No", said the man. "I will wait for God to rescue me." Soon after the flood waters rose and swept the man away. He drowned. On meeting God he asked Him why He didn't save his life. God replied, " I sent a raft, a boat and a helicopter. What else did you want from Me?"
Today's Christians are that man on the roof. They're all waiting for Jesus to return and save them.

Strange that the Fed gov't can put a stop to religion in politics because they are tax exempt, yet labor unions, some of politicians largest donors. don't receive the same threat. Yes, labor unions do not pay taxes, They are exempt under Section 501(c)(5) of the Tax code.
Even stranger is that Jeremiah Wright's church still has a tax exemption.
