Women calls 911 to force man to propose


A Chicago woman called 911 - to try to get police to scare her boyfriend into proposing to her.

Ana Perez, 40, from the city's Northwest side, claimed her boyfriend was attacking her when she called the emergency number.

But when police arrived, she changed her story, admitting she was trying to scare her boyfriend into marrying her.

Police were not amused, and charged Perez with disorderly conduct, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

Capt Ronald Pontecore said officers raced to the scene, believing a woman was in danger, "only to find out it's something ridiculous like that."

"She called 911 to scare him and have the police force him to marry her," he said.

The boyfriend had no intention of marrying Perez and was actually in the process of breaking up with her, added Capt Pontecore.

Well at least now he can leave and she will not be believed when she tries to take revenge with some false accusation.

Excellent. Let's hope if or when she does try to accuse him, the police will remember this. An accusation of rape often causes everyone to lose their sense of reasoning.

You're right; that's why our hope is with the coppers in this case.

Actually, I wasn't thinking of a false rape charge, but rather another false DV charge... if he's on the ball, then he'll bolt before there's enough time for her to try another one.
