I Highly recommend this movie. Very pro-male and pro-marine. No James Cameron garbage making marines out to be baby killers. And no empowered chics. Yes there are female soldiers but they aren't wonder woman. Its a very engaging movie.

Saw it last week. The only beef I had was them showing hand grenades going off like 500 LB bombs. A grenade has only about 8oz of explosives.

This one is worth the money, no doubt about it!

Sorry, total rental for me. It was nice that they didn't go with all the negative solider stereotypes but the story/plot were just bleh. Nice idea for an alien invasion movie from the squad level but I think it could've been written much better.

Really?

Did you see it?

If you didn't see it how do you know?

Trust me this movie needs to be seen on the big screen. And if you are basing your opinion on what the critics have said you shouldn't because they know Jack Squat.

Yes I did see it, release day no less. My opinion is that its a "total rental". The big screen didn't help the corny aliens who as one reviewer put it "could've been designed by Sanford and Son".  Like I said, it was a least taking a positive view of the soliders with minor multiculturalism PC baloney and war movie cliches.

I walked out of the theater with a big shrug. Its not horrible but I don't have much interest in ever seeing it again. What little of Ebert's review I read on it was funny simply because it shows how idiotic he is, as he gushed over Jolie's action chick flick Salt last year.

Yes if you take away the man friendly part and the soldier friendly part its not much of a movie otherwise. Plot isn't surprising or outstanding. But the man friendly/soldier friendly part was well worth the big screen price and to support this movie.

Well having been a to war I will say the plot was spot on. The squad gets their mission and they do what they have to do to get it done, no subtext necessary. As far as the aliens I liked that they took the Dr Who Dalek approach. The fact that the aliens didn't look like a guy in a suit was good I think. It reinforced the fact that the aliens weren't going to be open to reason or negotiation.

I missed the part where they examine the alien in the police station. So the aliens are essentially little critters with exo-skeletons?

Yes pretty much. They have their weapons grafted on to an appendage. It's a pretty cool concept for the aliens.

Reminds me a tiny bit of a Ray Bradbury short story about Martians invading Earth. The Martians had all the tech advantages but were wiped out by the humans were were just more dynamic. Humans essentially surrendered then exploited the Martians out of their tech.

I liked the movie but it felt 'rushed' to me.  Plus it seemed that most of the shots of the aliens were over very quickly.
