"What's the matter with you birds? Do you squat to pee?" That is what recruit company commanders used to ask their faltering charges at Great Lakes, IL fifty years ago. Well, that was then and this is now:

Gender-neutral Ford layout nixes urinals

Berthing plan focuses on mid-sized rooms

For the first time, the Navy has designed an aircraft carrier with women in mind. Gerald R. Ford-class carriers will have gender-neutral berthing and heads without urinals, differentiating them from all previous carriers.

These design details, provided only to Navy Times, give an early look at the amenities planned for the new carrier class, the first of which will hit the fleet in 2015.

Gender-neutral berthing is just one part of a broader plan intended to ensure comfort aboard the carriers, Navy officials said. All berthing areas will be connected to a toilet and shower, and there will be no more crew living spaces with 200-plus sailors, according to Rear Adm. Thomas Moore, program executive officer for aircraft carriers.

Carriers have deployed with women since 1994, but every one built since then has included urinals. By using just toilets, any head quickly switch from male to female. ..........

Oooo.....
Any bets on the future of "I got it from the toilet seat...atmosphere" defense amongst another  "sudden" rise in pregnancies in the face of inevitable active active duty?

Are (sorry, i can't help snicker at the irony) Gerald Ford class carriers destined to be mere launch pads for un-womaned drones, actually  flown by "gamers" in a very comfortable chairs somewhere in Colorado?

I guess they're [/i]keeping[/i] the urinals on submarines, supply ships, and destroyers.

Ugh, can't you just imagine the transmission rates for 'certain' types of diseases from using a dirty toilette?

Doesn';t matter. Since most of the of the new infections will be male, due to the fast gender imballence in the crew. Men are  supposed to suffer for the comfort of females. Of course untill the women complain. Then the women will be given another special privelage - or the men will be ordered to sit down all the time.
Thus another normal natural right of being male is removed for the convenience of females.
Coiurse there's the upside. Since the women always sit maybe they'll catch more deseases and die off more quickly.

So "Gender-neutral berthing' is where everything is arranged to suit one gender - female.

Oooo...like The right to comfortably, and quickly, piss standing up, in other words EFFECTIVELY USING A PENIS?

Talk about requiring the fastest runners to wear weights, in the name of "access" to "fairness" of course.
Penis envy at it's worst.
Accomidating it, at tax/security value recieved expense, is even worse.
Any takers on "official battlestations military toilet seat position" side bets?
Will female military "specialists" be required to assume responsability if they take the plunge? Will flushing a tampon be on par with AWOL, or "Missing a movement", in the military code of justice?

Is simply pissing over the rail (leeward side), when available,  an EPA/UMCJ violation
of indecent exposure/ non-descript sex crime/ conduct unbecoming?
