(CNSNews.com) - Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg says there will be enough women on the Supreme Court when all nine justices are female.

"So now the perception is, yes, women are here to stay. And when I'm sometimes asked when will there be enough [women on the Supreme Court]? And I say when there are nine, people are shocked. But there'd been nine men, and nobody's ever raised a question about that," she said.

Ginsburg made the remark at the 10th Circuit Bench & Bar Conference that was held at the University of Colorado in Boulder in October.

University of Colorado Law School Dean Phil Weiser asked her: "When you joined the court, Sandra Day O'Connor had been the only woman for some time and you became two. After she left, you went back to having only a single woman, and now there are three. Could you reflect some on the dynamics of the court in terms of what it means to have a woman or more than one woman?" Weiser asked.

Ginsburg explained that she returned to the bench three weeks after having pancreatic cancer surgery, which was nothing compared to Justice O'Connor, who was on the bench "nine days after breast cancer surgery." (O'Connor retired in 2006.)

Ginsburg went on to discuss the other two women now serving on the court -- Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor -- and also said, "So now the perception is, yes, women are here to stay. And when I'm sometimes asked when will there be enough [women on the court]? And I say when there are nine, people are shocked. But there'd been nine men, and nobody's ever raised a question about that."

Imagine a black supreme court justice saying

"And when I'm sometimes asked when will there be enough [blacks on the court]? And I say when there are nine, people are shocked. But there'd been nine whites, and nobody's ever raised a question about that."

Her statement shows a huge deficit in thinking.

Except, it's perfectly fine to put blacks in place of women in that statement.  It's only bad when it's men or whites.

In 1996, when commenting on her Virginia Military Institute ruling, Ginsberg stated, "Men have to get used to taking orders from women." It doesn't sound like she has changed any. This is a woman who believes that the government can make you buy health insurance, and it can confiscate your property and give it to a shopping mall.

I love when women say this because it just reeks of delusion. Men do NOT have a problem taking orders from women as long as that authority is EARNED! Its a half-truth that perpetuates our society. TV shows and movies love using this trope. The female boss, captain etc has to show and say how she's in control every chance she gets and no matter how competent (or incompetent) she is, the apparent problem is sexism. Most of these women (in real life and in movies) hardly went through the trenches with the people and earned their authority. They were either assigned the position or bought it.
So now you have this female boss that doesn't know how the place works, doesn't know the people she's supervising and is making all-around bad decisions because she views herself as the ultimate authority. If this was a guy he'd be labelled an asshole boss and doesn't deserve the staff's respect, but when its a woman its gotta be SEXISM!

And don't you love it when in movies when the "i hope you don't have problems taking orders from a woman" is one of the first lines she says when dealing with a subordinate? I wish, just once, the guy would say "I never even THOUGHT about it till you brought it up."
ell she turned me into a NEWT!! A newt?! Er..., well I got better.

One would hope that a Justice on the Supreme Court would have a greater command of critical thinking than she apparently does. One would also hope that a Justice on the Supreme Court would be capable of greater dispassionate objectivity than that. As usual, we get a petulant and simplistic comparison with the past. When in doubt, forget the future and drag out the past, as though you are Post Traumatic Stress Disordered and OCD to boot!

This is more proof that there are women out there that do not care for men and are working to at least subjugate them, if not eradicate them altogether. It is crucial that we differentiate them from the majority of females, instead of letting them get away with claiming to represent all females everywhere.

Concur with AnubisRox, above.  I've had more than my fill of those bosses who go out of their way to let everyone else know they are the boss.  I have no quarrel with women who have earned their authority -- but I have had several problems with individuals who seem to think their authority can be rubbed in people's faces.

Wow, what can I say?  This goes beyond equality of opportunity or even outcome to outright female supremacy.  I'm appalled that a woman like this is on the Supreme Court.

This is Orwellian Animal Farm style logic in use by Justice Ginsberg.
