IRVINE, CA - In a major gaffe for the fast food giant, Taco Bell has cancelled its "Pink Taco" promotion, intended to raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness month. The $4.99 special apparently featured three tacos with pink shells and a choice of side and soft drink. Women's groups are outraged by the insensitivity of the promotion. "What were we thinking?" said chairman Glen Creed at a press conference at company headquarters earlier today. "I've had the promotion cancelled and am apologizing to women nationwide for this oversight. If any offense was caused by this, owe it to our lack of knowledge of the modern American vernacular."
The fundraiser had raised $103,467 so far, and Taco Bell intends to distribute the funds raised to the Susan B. Komen Foundation, as originally promised.
In related news, Denny's has also come under fire for it's "Sideways Sloppy Joe" special.
