These are just the quotes of the American bunch.  Blair fampously came out with his "Saddam has weapons he can launch within 45 minutes" lie.  Curious as to whether any useful idiots still beleive these simple lies.  If they do then presumably they think that Bush has effectively just given Osama thousands of tons of advanced deadly weapons by his negligence in locating them before the looters.  We already know that one nuclear plant in Iraq was looted and that nuclear material will no doubt find its way into the hands of terrorists.

The last quote is the most recent -- basically the administration has now admited the talk of weapons was just a convenient excuse.

quotes taken from,
http://www.counterpunch.org/wmd05292003.html

Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction.

Dick Cheney August 26, 2002

Right now, Iraq is expanding and improving facilities that were used for the production of biological weapons.

George W. Bush September 12, 2002

If he declares he has none, then we will know that Saddam Hussein is once again misleading the world.

Ari Fleischer December 2, 2002

We know for a fact that there are weapons there.

Ari Fleischer January 9, 2003

Our intelligence officials estimate that Saddam Hussein had the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent.

George W. Bush January 28, 2003

We know that Saddam Hussein is determined to keep his weapons of mass destruction, is determined to make more.

Colin Powell February 5, 2003

We have sources that tell us that Saddam Hussein recently authorized Iraqi field commanders to use chemical weapons -- the very weapons the dictator tells us he does not have.

George Bush February 8, 2003

So has the strategic decision been made to disarm Iraq of its weapons of mass destruction by the leadership in Baghdad? I think our judgment has to be clearly not.

Colin Powell March 8, 2003

Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised.

George Bush March 17, 2003

Well, there is no question that we have evidence and information that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction, biological and chemical particularly . . . all this will be made clear in the course of the operation, for whatever duration it takes.

Ari Fleisher March 21, 2003

There is no doubt that the regime of Saddam Hussein possesses weapons of mass destruction. As this operation continues, those weapons will be identified, found, along with the people who have produced them and who guard them.

Gen. Tommy Franks March 22, 2003

I have no doubt we're going to find big stores of weapons of mass destruction.

Kenneth Adelman, Defense Policy Board , March 23, 2003

One of our top objectives is to find and destroy the WMD. There are a number of sites.

Pentagon Spokeswoman Victoria Clark March 22, 2003

We know where they are. They are in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad.

Donald Rumsfeld March 30, 2003

Obviously the administration intends to publicize all the weapons of mass destruction U.S. forces find -- and there will be plenty.

Neocon scholar Robert Kagan April 9, 2003

I think you have always heard, and you continue to hear from officials, a measure of high confidence that, indeed, the weapons of mass destruction will be found.

Ari Fleischer April 10, 2003

We are learning more as we interrogate or have discussions with Iraqi scientists and people within the Iraqi structure, that perhaps he destroyed some, perhaps he dispersed some. And so we will find them.

George Bush April 24, 2003

There are people who in large measure have information that we need . . . so that we can track down the weapons of mass destruction in that country. Donald Rumsfeld April 25, 2003

We'll find them. It'll be a matter of time to do so.

George Bush May 3, 2003

I am confident that we will find evidence that makes it clear he had weapons of mass destruction.

Colin Powell May 4, 2003

I never believed that we'd just tumble over weapons of mass destruction in that country.

Donald Rumsfeld May 4, 2003

I'm not surprised if we begin to uncover the weapons program of Saddam Hussein -- because he had a weapons program.

George W. Bush May 6, 2003

U.S. officials never expected that "we were going to open garages and find" weapons of mass destruction.

Condoleeza Rice May 12, 2003

I just don't know whether it was all destroyed years ago -- I mean, there's no question that there were chemical weapons years ago -- whether they were destroyed right before the war, (or) whether they're still hidden.

Maj. Gen. David Petraeus,
Commander 101st Airborne May 13, 2003

Before the war, there's no doubt in my mind that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, biological and chemical. I expected them to be found. I still expect them to be found.

Gen. Michael Hagee,
Commandant of the Marine Corps May 21, 2003

Given time, given the number of prisoners now that we're interrogating, I'm confident that we're going to find weapons of mass destruction.

Gen. Richard Myers,
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff May 26, 2003

They may have had time to destroy them, and I don't know the answer.

Donald Rumsfeld May 27, 2003

For bureaucratic reasons, we settled on one issue, weapons of mass destruction (as justification for invading Iraq) because it was the one reason everyone could agree on.

Paul Wolfowitz May 28, 2003

What is most distressing to me is the distance between "The Government" and "The People."  The more I lobby my congressman and senators the more I am convinced that my voice simply doesn't count.  Special interest groups have a greater say than the average citizen.  If we can't turn that around we are in big trouble.

UR, that post was a beautiful thing.   You caught the ass-lapping and all of it.   I might have missed the lighter fluid part

Now tumor-ick, (damn, what a diss to a perfectly lovely spice    :x ) allow me to educate you on our electoral system, because you seem GROSSLY lacking in understanding about it.

First of all, here is an explanation about how the electoral votes work that even an idiot can understand (which I'm sure will be appreciated in your case.)  http://www.weirdrepublic.com/episode16.htm

So you see, the electoral system is specifically designed to give the less populous states an equal voice to the urban liberal elite places on either coast.   They were never meant to dominate elections.   Why?  Because we do not go by a simple majority (there is a reason it's called "simple" - it's FOR the simple).   A simple majority is meaningless in a loose confederation of 50 SOVEREIGN STATES, some of whom have a much sparser population.   If you want a simple majority, move to a country that isn't made up of fifty sovereign entities and engages in elections with a simple majority rule.  They DO exist.   That isn't the US.

That's just about the electoral system.   Secondly, you have been grossly misinformed about the election you speak of.   I don't think you remember since you're obviously about 18 and have your head jammed quite far up your ass, but let me remind you of something Al Gore warned us all about before the election took place.   Al Gore was worried in advance that Bush might take the popular vote but that he, Gore, would win the electoral vote.   Yes, he was.   He was all over the news telling us not to get mad if that happened, because we don't rule by simple majority here.    Of course that didn't stop his infantile raves and his holding the entire nation hostage for two months when it went the opposite way now, did it?      (Hehe, he must have been talking out his ass anyway, because he had his team research recount laws in all 50 states two weeks before the election; he knew he could lose.)

In any case, the votes were counted time and again; Bush was ahead every single time.   Never once was Gore ahead in any count.   Also, nationwide, the votes were MUCH closer than the standard margin of error for a number that large, so there is no way to say with any certainty who won the simple majority nationwide.   It appears to be pretty much a dead heat, in fact; with different counts putting either one MINIMALLY ahead.   Minimally as in well within a standard margin of error.   So THAT doesn't help you either.

In fact, you don't have a leg to stand on here; and the reprehensible conduct of your candidate assures us that you won't get the NEXT four years either.   No one wants to be put through that hell AGAIN.   Put your best man up; it makes no difference.   Your best isn't better than our worst.  Hehe.

Someday we'll get a libertarian with strong foreign policy stances (right now libertarians don't have a CLUE about foreign policy; so it's better that they're not in power) and all of this will become moot anyhow.   You turd men can run off to the mountains and live in peace then, cleaning the toilets of the distant lesbian separatists because they don't want to do it themselves.   You can all strip and let them whip your sorry asses at night to release their own frustrations, then go home and kick one another's asses for being such pussies and taking that shit.   It will be a fine day :)
on't walk ahead of me, I may not follow.   Don't walk behind me, I may not lead.   Don't walk beside me either.  Stay the hell away from me!

so i gues that is why i see all these presidential candidates coming to oklahoma and hawaii. and we all know that the networks can never really tell who won until the polls in honolulu closes, because that 'genius' james madison set everything up so everyones vote counts!

also, clinton and gore, who are both from backwards ass shit poor states with no population, somehow in your book dont seem to understand how wonderful the electoral system is for small states. ..... and yet the genius george bush, from kennebunkport maine and/or rich-bastard-ville, texas, are just the common persons hero defending the electoral college system.

actually the only way we get the prevention of the tyranny of the majority (and why are you arguing against tyranny of white people anyways? arent they the ones who bring all that wonderful western culture that saves us from evil socialism?) , is through the senate and the congress. which wind up having all their committees controlled by the party with the SIMPLE MAJORITY IN THAT HOUSE. nice system.

well, since i didnt provide any references, and you didnt either, i guess we are both just a bunch of liberals thinking with our emotions instead of our brains. why dont you pull out some facts? i am just too emotional.

besides, i thought you 'libertarians' were ok with whatever peopel did in the privacy of their own mountains.
