Anti Male Billboard

Hi. I was walking around Boston today when I noticed a billboard that was about selling alcohol.

It said : "Man, may you die at the age of 95 shot in your sleep by a jealous spouse." I found this thing to be very anti-male and wrong. I couldnt believe that people walked right by it and thought there was nothing wrong with this picture.

If this was a billboard advertising that women should be killed in their sleep by jealous men, women everywhere would be pissed off and demand that the billboard be taken down.

I dont like Anti Male advertisements.

I plan on writing a letter to the National Coalition of Free Men to see if they can do something about it. OR maybe I will get some people to start a protest or boycott.

What do you think ?

Historicly, I've heard (and used) the referance "May you be hit by a bus you never saw , or shot by a jealous husband as you sleep.", but only amongst men, in private, in jest.

Personally, I don't take exception to the message (depends on the pic) but I question the use of the word "spouse"- When did this billboard go up?

The anti male billboard was I think an advertisement about a bottle of alcohol. It used these words : "May you die in bed at 95, shot by a jealous spouse." The person whom it said may die was a male. If it had been a female that the advertisement said may die in her sleep, shot by a jealous spouse, feminists would have been all over the company, demanding that the billboard be taken down because it advertises VAW (violence against women). Since it's a man intended as the victim in the joke, it's OKAY. I hate how people are biased and moronic. I'll get you more info on it later.

The spouse referred to is (or ought to be) the husband of the woman involved. The original idea behind this saying was the hope that one would be capable of having a sexual affair at the age of 95.

This billboard doesn't seem anti-male to me, it's just some crappy humor. I agree that it is stupid and they could have come up with a better idea. And indeed if the genders were reversed, the feminists would jump all over it and have a cry about it. But should MRAs be just as annoying and whiny as them ? Isn't it better to concentrate on the important issues ? :--(

I've heard that particular line before and it's meant as a "wink-wink, nudge-nudge. between us guys" sort of thing. Essentially, it's supposed to translate to "live life to the fullest guys".

Actually, it's not a bad sentiment in my book. Why live your life in service to others at the expense of your own happiness?

The way to deal with this sort of thing is to write to the company telling them you will nevwe buy their product again.

Then come to the board with full information and we can do the same (not mentioning the board).

Ten adverse replies will get management atention for sure provided they do not think it is an organised response.

NCFM are probably doing a great deal of good stuff already.
