Ampersands "Male priviledge checklist".

Here's the history of that "female/feminist privilege checklist":

I wrote that a few years ago on the Ms. Boards because I got tired of having their "male privilege checklist" shoved in my face.  It turns out that Ampersand wrote the latter.

I also posted it here - although I can't find it with a search - and apparently Dan Lynch posted it on mensactivism.org giving "anonymous" as the author - he picked it up from here, as I recall.  I also vaguely remember that Dr. Evil sent me a PM about that, because he thought I wrote it, saying that I should have my "name" (I guess "Galt") put on it - but I didn't care.  Since it seems to be gone from this website, maybe I only linked to where I wrote it on the Ms. Boards.  I'm almost sure that I copied it here, so that's strange.

Anyway - I just thought it was common sense, but it's a nice response to the "male privilege checklist", so spread it around.

Edited to add: Here's where Dan Lynch posted it on mensactivism:

http://www.mensactivism.org/articles/03/02/25/025254.shtml

That was February of 2003 - I also see that Dr. Evil has eliminated all posts (except for a few polls) older than summer of 2003 - that's why my post with the list is gone.

By the way, my "reward" for giving the Ms. Boards that gift was a spanking from the WebMstress and another good banning.  I mean, it got so troublesome to punch in a different proxy server (they used to also ban by IP addresses over there) and then register a new name under a hotmail account.  But I still miss those boards.  You'll never get entertainment like that again - for free.

I usually just read here, except for today.  I don't agree with a number of things said here concerning politics in general.  So I come here, only out of my desire to squelch mysandry.

But anway, I came out of the closet to reply to this "privilege" of mine.

"5. The odds of my encountering sexual harassment on the job are so low as to be negligible."

It is this "privilege" whereby the sexual harrassment I received was not just considered "negligible" but was laughed at behind my back and even CAUSED more sexual harassment from the initial harasser's co-workers.

I had to eventually quit after blowing up and making a HUGE deal about it all in the effort to stop it.  For a shy person it was not easy to get myself to do.  I suffered being worked harder on top of this as well.

So thanks to this societal bia that considers sexual harassment of males to be negligible and/or not important enough to consider for men caused me even MORE sexual harassment to the point of eventually quiting my job.

thank--you---male privilege!

dr e

Welcome bukowski.  Glad you decided to post.  Sorry to hear about your harrassment difficulties.  If you have any interest you could post your experience in more detail here and others would have the benefit of knowing about what happened and might be more sensitive to the next man in a similar spot.

Glad to see you.

I'm just glad that I can simply snap my fingers and say "O great Patriarchy, bestow upon me your powers."  Then, whatever situation I'm in, I'm empowered with male privileges not accorded to females.

I have an old MSN group that's also called Men's Issues Online.  I posted Ampersand's list and Tony Anada's rebuttal over there.  The former happens to be one of the first members of that group, although he has posted nothing after an initial post.

The web address for the MSN Men's Issues Online is:

http://groups.msn.com/MensIssuesOnline

This just seemed like a great opportunity for a discussion to recharge the group.  However, I'd prefer not to have a flame war.

I hope that this is OK with you.  Ampersand gave permission to repost his "list," and I think it was mentioned that Tony Ananda wouldn't mind either.

Well said, Steve.  Also, please remember, just because you are not aware of your "male privilege," that doesn't mean you aren't a recipient or beneficiary of said privilege.

Feminists also claim that just because a man is not aware of his "misogyny," that doesn't mean he isn't a "misogynist."  Uh huh.

Those are the kinds of claims made by the female professional victims and their hapless male lackeys.

Keep up the good work, brother.

LOL

Umm, no, I really mean it.

LOL Galt!  I think you are having a Rodney Dangerfield moment!

The piece you wrote is a thing of beauty and I remember our conversation about it including my encouragement to you to put your name on it.

You da anti-femMANist!   :daman:

Thank you, Dr. Evil, I found my long-since-lost acknowledgment.

I don't get any respect.

And since my real name wouldn't be attached to it, it doesn't matter anyway.  But somehow it matters.

It is a great list!!!

LOL

OK, Really pretty bizarre human behavior on my part, but there you have it.

And that is another example of "cash" income in some respects - that is not considered by the IRS (Inland Revenue for the Brits here or the tax office for the rest).  Just a side comment.

That's my current beef.
