I finally figured it out on "that" message board .

... and the answer is to just sit back and cherry-pick with logical fallacies and minor misstatements.  The "Gang of Six" rarely ever makes any comment of substance, but register and wait for them, and if they generalize about anything, jump on it.

I finally figured the game out over there !!

Ummm ... I hope that "over there" is known.

Big Brad just generalized that he never dated any woman who was a user in any way.  So that applies to all women, in the world, ever.  And no one ever called him on it.

I think that logical fallacies and grammatical errors are getting old and musty over there.

I may be going for spelling mistakes now.  That's where the real gold is - and that's where you can derail an uncomfortable poster into a non-ending loop.  Endless focus on details, and never the big picture, or even common sense.

Fighting fire with fire can be a hazardous enterprise.  These are not people that you want to emulate too closely.
You've got the right idea though; bide your time and pick your shots.

Let me know how the battle goes.

Gentleman is a man who consciously serves women. I prefer the golden rule.

Behind every great man, is a
parasite.

Women who say men won't commit, usually aren't worth committing to.

Yeah, I find it totally amusing how Kristen lies in waiting for the unsuspecting poster to come along and then she pounces with all her definition and logic crap.

She tried to get me on Mr. X's post about Warren Farrell's new book, but I just simply disagreed with her and walked away. I think she's full of it but I'm not going to waste my time trying to convince her of that.

And then her post asking questions about why that one guy was posting on the board! Who does she think she is, the gatekeeper?

kal147

Galt, what's your screen name over there?

Galt

I'm not posting over there right now.

That's the funniest shit I've ever heard.

Aaaaaah ,

While I don' t consider myself an uncomfortable poster -if you go after the spelling to redirect a failed point I'm doomed.

Not all (what does one call an in-house troll?)over there are guilty of what you claim, but there are certainly those that personify it. To what end, I can't imagine.

I can only assume we all speak of the house of Wendy-doesn't-live-here- anymore, but it could be any of a growing number of  sites that no longer chose to face scrutiny, rebuttal, or criticizm. Circling the wagons and  cloistering themselves seems to be the battlecry of tenatious cockroaches suddenly exposed by the kitchen light and a can of insecticide.

Y'know... I've never been "over there". I considered visiting there once - but then there was that big blowout with "Herself" last year - and I completely lost all interest in even trying lurking.

And now with the subdivision of the forum between the "Men's Rights Infidels" and the "iFem True Believers" I have even less interest...
FEMINISM IS A CULT THAT TRIES TO MAKE BOTH SEXES EQUAL BY FOCUSING SOLELY ON ONE OF THEM

drumgurl

I like it over there.

Didn't she leave because she was getting death threats?

I don't agree with her 100% of the time, but I do a lot.  Hers is kind of a middle-ground perspective that doesn't seem to make anyone happy.  I can empathize with her on that.

jaketk

I never saw anyone leave a death threat against her.

I like it over there too.  I like it over here and I like it over there.

The only reason I read forums is to learn, and I enjoy hearing critical thinkers views on gender issues.  As long as people refrain from personal attacks, you can always learn something.

It is not an "us" and "them"...and when it is, that is when the problems start and the posting becomes useless.

The point of these forums should not be to attempt to force your opinion down someone else's throat or wait until the perfect moment to prove them wrong, but to learn from them.

but to learn from them. "

The lesson I took away from that forum was how not to treat people who visit your site.  Attempts at open debate were thwarted by a small thugocracy who disrupted any discussions that made them uncomfortable.  Anyone who questioned the goings-on was subject to intemperate personal attack and/or banishment.
Perhaps things have improved since Herself became unravelled (apparently wintering in a small house on the western prairie is not for the emotionally fragile).  I am not trying to be mean; a breakdown of some sort is the only excuse for the abuse handed out on that board.
