This is very out of character for the people that wrote this, so for their own sake I'm not citing it.  It's from an offline article encouraging respect for women, but it looks to me like they took it a bit too far.  I'm thinking about talking to them about these points...

Quote from: "The real doozie"
But even if men all over the world make a radical change in their attitudes toward women, it will still not be the complete solution to the injustices afflicting mankind. Why? Because men are inflicting injustices and barbarities not just on women but on their fellowmen. War, violence, murder, death squads, and terrorism are still the order of the day in many countries.

What do you see wrong with this paragraph?

Quote from: "Also caught my attention"
Women have for years endured situations that perhaps most men would not tolerate even briefly--including abuse by a violent or alcoholic spouse.

Do men really have a choice but to endure domestic violence?  That issue is part of this site's very mission statement, isn't it?

Hmmm...very interesting comment about the source of male power.

The article didn't really address the source of male power.  It focused almost totally on the inner strength of women.  This was stated as an example of that inner strength and I find this supporting evidence to be a bit sexist seeing as DV is an equal-opportunity employer.

Wow that is stupid. So women are innocent and perfect are they? What country is this article from?

The U.S. with an international target audience.

When will people learn that people are all individuals? I cant stand it when people need to blaim a whole group of people like all white people are racists and all men are evil. I mean there is no denying that that sort of feminism is just like nazism.

Well, sometimes articles speak louder between the lines.

In the end, my general impression of this article is that it is just a bunch of spoiled-brat women whining about what men should do for them. Who holds the real power in this situation?

Women like this will always feel trampled on, walked on, abused, victimized, and every other phrase that is synonymous with "salt of the earth." They don't seem to have any power, because they've just freely dispensed it to everyone around them. But, hey, they've got their inner strength, which I'm sure makes them better people than everyone else around them.

In my opinion, the last person that deserves respect is the one that vocally demands it.

Also, framing violence against people in the context of respect doesn't seem to be correct to me.

It's entirely possible to dislike, dispise, or lack respect for an individual and to never come to blows with them or otherwise harm them.

This is, of course, aside from the fact that respect is a rather subjective concept.

Ah, gotcha then.  I just wanted to make sure the quote wasn't being taken out of context since I can't post the whole article.

It still would not fix the injustices to all mankind because men do not inflict all the injustices in the first place.

That is an assumption based on falsehood. War is not always wrong, violence, murder and terrorism are perpetrated by many women as well.

Their hearts may be in the right place, but they need to be  reminded of their mistaken assumptions.

Here's what I see wrong with this paragraph. It's out of context witih the main body of opinion. The revelance is moot without the scope of the authors position. It's cherry picking.
While it's just spiffy that your thinking of talking to "them" about it , why did you bring two anonomous snippets to a forum?
Too bad, 'cause normally I'd shred  the piece, but as far as I know, it was written by chipmunks at a wine tasting.

My point is, "No comment" on the orphaned blurb, but I question the motive of it's introduction ,with a defending disclaimer.

Maybe I shouldn't have brought it here.  I wanted to see how others would respond, I guess.  Perhaps that's immature of me.  My motive was to blow off steam.

I'm having trouble understanding this.  So essentially, the main body of opinion could have a bearing on whether or not men cause all the heartache in the world.

Huh?
