Rumsfeld: US will provoke terrorist attacks on America

As with so much that slips out of the mouths of the Dubbya regime, Rumsfeld's confession that the defence department will/is funding/provoking/organising terrorists to carry out attacks on US targets is revealing nothing new.  What is new is that he's admiting it in public.

According to a classified document prepared for Rumsfeld by his Defense Science Board, the new organization -- the "Proactive, Preemptive Operations Group (P2OG)" -- will carry out secret missions designed to "stimulate reactions" among terrorist groups, provoking them into committing violent acts which would then expose them to "counterattack" by U.S. forces.

In other words -- and let's say this plainly, clearly and soberly, so that no one can mistake the intention of Rumsfeld's plan -- the United States government is planning to use "cover and deception" and secret military operations to provoke murderous terrorist attacks on innocent people. Let's say it again: Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, George W. Bush and the other members of the unelected regime in Washington plan to deliberately foment the murder of innocent people -- your family, your friends, your lovers, you -- in order to further their geopolitical ambitions.

"and those who harbor them".  Its not hard to say "Ohh, your terrorist did this now we can invade".  In my eyes this is just the new pretext for everything.  We had the soviet pretext, the war on drugs pretext, and now the global for on terror pretext.   Who is a terrorist? Anyone who has anything we want that furthers strategic aims, or attempts to interfere in any way with global corporate control.  Wont sell your water rights? Terrorist.  Have the gall to tax oil with the same tax you put on all other commodities leaving your country? Terrorist.   (No, I'm not joking, we tried to overthrow both of those governemnts for those reasons, and we did indeed break out the terrorist line...  "Chavez funds Al-Qaeda" (snicker) that was truly priceless. P2OG isn't really anything new, its just that they are so brazen they talk about it openly.  Its not all that different from say... Operation Northwoods: http://abcnews.go.com/US/print?id=92662 or the faked bombing of a ship in Vietnam, or in earlier wars.

Well sounds like the GOP is using their same old tactics again.  They have been doing similiar things for quite a long time.  I rememeber in January 2001 when Bush came into office, the first thing he did was drop a bomb on Bagdad for whatever reason months before 911.

We never really stopped bombing Iraq.  They had effectively 12 years of continious bombing.  We did something similar to Cuba despite a failed invasion, the only difference was they never really owned up to doing that - the hope was that it would provoke an incident and give them an excuse to invade.  


I have a feeling they will try to go after Chavez next (if not this week even). That is the problem with empires, it doesn't save you anything in the long run. Always have to go and overthrow this government, arrange this coup, bomb this place, invade here... You end up in the same places over and over again and it never stops.
