true enough, I was assuming it was a beloved pet and he made an insensitive comment which set her off... but I don't know that for sure.
Actually I just noticed that interpretation. If he was taunting her because of a death of a beloved pet that would make him an ass. Although why he would do that is a good question. Maybe he doesn't like dogs or maybe he thinks his wife loved the dog more then him. Which is a strong possiblity considering the circumstance.
Another unknown is when the break-up of this relationship started and whether the pet was a disputed possesion (custody battle). What if the pet's future custody was already in dispute and the husband took an unfair advantage to euthanize an older pet in borderline health to pre-empt her claims to said pet - then threw it in her face?I posted this because of the unusual choice of weaponry.
