JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- When taunting over the death of a dog escalated into an argument, a woman said her husband dared her to take a decorative sword above the fireplace to settle things, a police report said.

That resulted in John A. Kurceba, 53, being stabbed Monday though his right bicep and into his right side. His injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said.

Priscilla L. Kurceba, 52, was charged with aggravated domestic battery and booked into the Duval County Jail. She was freed on bond, but no information was available bond amount. Records do not show if she has legal representation.

According to a police report, Priscilla Kurceba told officers her husband taunted her when he came home about 7:30 p.m. and learned the family dog had been euthanized earlier in the day.

As the argument escalated, John Kurceba told her to "just get the sword bitch," she told police. She lunged at her husband and stuck him.

The couple is getting a divorce, authorities said.

There was no answer at their Jacksonville telephone number.

Sounds like the guy was an ass... but that in no way justifies a nice big bloody stab wound.

But yeah, in a world where the standard female reaction to male doing something wrong to a female is "they should cut his balls off", I suppose this sort of action is to be expected. It would be nice to see her treated as the assault perpetrator that she is though.

Oh yeah, I almsot fogot though... only men commit domestic violence, if women do it it's justified because a man pushed her to do it.

So if a woman taunts a man into hitting her, it's her fault?

I don't see how this guy is an ass. We don't know why the dog was euthanized. We don't know how he was *told*.

And what's even more interesting... why didn't we get *his* side of the story?

realman

true enough, I was assuming it was a beloved pet and he made an insensitive comment which set her off... but I don't know that for sure.

Actually I just noticed that interpretation. If he was taunting her because of a death of a beloved pet that would make him an ass. Although why he would do that is a good question. Maybe he doesn't like dogs or maybe he thinks his wife loved the dog more then him. Which is a strong possiblity considering the circumstance.

Although we can't tell, we weren't there and we only have one side of the
story -- hers.

This seems to be a trend. Why don't men get to make statements on these situations?

Or maybe the dog had a fatal chronic illness, or was old and suffering from an accumulation of age related debilitations.  There's no way of knowing based on the article.
Give me liberty or give me death.

Another unknown is when the break-up of this relationship started and whether the pet was a disputed possesion (custody battle).  What if the pet's future custody was already in dispute and the husband took an unfair advantage to euthanize an older pet in borderline health to pre-empt her claims to said pet - then threw it in her face?

I posted this because of the unusual choice of weaponry.

I believe it was the wife who euthanized the dog. The husband may or may not have been taunting her about the fact of the euthanization.
