http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/dirtyjobs/poll/dirtiestjoboftheyear.htmlAbove is a link to a poll for the dirtiest job. They have neat video clips for each job.
This is going to be a new series on the Discovery Channel, starting January 5th.
http://discoverychannel.ca/dirtyjobs/The host is Mike Rowe. I wonder how many women we will see in these jobs. Will there be equitable representation of both genders? Will we once again see a glass ceiling, or will we see the male dominated glass cellar?
Okay I voted for
hot tar roofer (a job I've never done, but have witnessed close up), but you decide on your own.
I've shoveled chicken poop (very bad because of the ammonia). I've abated asbestos. I put a new foundation under my house (tons of earth out and a half mile of steel and 90 tons of concrete back in. I've cleaned the flue in an oil fired boiler, repaired the firebox of a boiler, cleaned the steam drum of a boiler. I've pumped out sewage ejection pits and seen 50 floating, used tampons get sucked up into the vacuum truck hose in one big slurping noise, but one of the worst jobs I've ever done is assist in the cleaing of a cafeteria grease clarifier. The smell of rotting fat is exquisitely nauseating beyond description. I think I've had other horrible jobs, but my subconscious must be blessedly blocking them.
