There are two sides to this mind set. First, I am the greatest. Second, you are scum -- you wouldn't even do this unless you "wanted" me.
There is one woman who has a particularly bad case of the "I am absolutely the hottest female on earth and everybody wants me syndrome" that I have dealings with now. The woman is huge. She is absolutely massively abnormally huge yet she nevertheless in her mind is the hottest and most desirable woman every on the planet. She really does believe that every man wants her. Further, if a man does not show interest in her, she openly tells people that the man must be "gay."
Back to the subject of this, I am in defense mode with her. I will not be in her vincinity unless other people are around as "witnesses." I will be careful. The sad thing is the very act of helping someone in need without being paid which would generally be considered a good thing can be turned around (he wouldn't do that unless he had wanted something).
Like a lot of things, this will pass. I don't think anything will come of it especially if I take care but it is an enlightening experience. You really do have to be on self defense nearly all the time now. This is true in general but it is particulary true in dealings with women.
