Someone posted earlier that women control a large portion of the wealth in the US - I think the number was 65%.  The reference was from Forbes or Fortune magazine.

Can someone post a link to that reference?  I think it is a powerful stat to know and use.

Thanks

There is a reference to that in Warren Farrell's book The myth of male power.  I dont think its that they control 65% of the wealth in this country, I think its that they SPEND 65% or 70% of the money made in this country......pretty close to the same thing though.
Imagine waking up tomorrow to find
that unbelievably rape is now legal.

You would be freaking out, telling everyone you ran into this is crazy- something needs to be done... now!!! And then every man you told this to just very smugly and condescendingly says...

"Hey... not all men are 'like that.'"

I heard the spending bit...  I would like to see an authoritative write-up on that also.

I thought I saw a post that mentioned an article about control of wealth overall.  Forbes Magazine frequently does "richest people" lists and other reports on wealth.  If I remember the post correctly - the thrust was:

Women marry older men.  Women live longer than men.  Upon the husband's death, the wife usually gets all of the wealth that has built up from decades of work.  When you add up all of the wealth that women control, it comes out to a larger proportion than the wealth that men control.  All this happens, even though women tend to earn less than men and put less effort into careers and wealth building.

I think this is another powerful example of how feminist propaganda is the exact opposite of the truth.  Feminists claim women are oppressed, when in reality the evidence suggests they are pampered and privileged.

I am just looking for sources so I can understand the situation and use the information properly.

A good place to look for this statistic is to google marketing websites.  Many will mention it and they are unbiased by politics and simply motivated by the almighty dollar.

The first place I saw this statistic mentioned (women influencing or controlling 80% of consumer purchases) was in Philip Wylie's "Generation of Vipers" published in 1942, so it's common knowledge that's been around a very long time.  Good book too, BTW.

Also, that's a pretty powerful bit of knowledge to have as I see it as perhaps the ultimate source for much of our discontent with the relationship between men and women today.

The marketers discovered who controlled the purse strings (women) and then pandered to their every whim -- whether fear or pride -- and created endless strings of double standards and weak minded excuses.

"To such females, womanhood is more sacrosanct by a thousand times than the Virgin Mary to popes--and motherhood, that degree raised to astronomic power. They have eaten the legend about themselves and believe it; they live it; they require fealty of us all." -- Philip Wylie, Generation of Vipers

Typical PC bullshit.

Most of the times I think they blow this portion way in the sky.
Women do not work as much as men, even nowadays, and they choose lower paid occupations, so they do not generate as much money as men do.
Yet, they spend more, which can only mean one thing, they get the extra money from men. Either directly or indirectly (divorces, child support, etc.)

The thing I hate about these messages is that they TRY to make it look like women somehow work more than men or GENERATE more money than men, which is simply not true.

Also, they never explain how it is possible women can spend more than they earn. Maybe they don't want to write that down together with the glorifying news, because it might damage the degree of PC of the article
t is time men start behaving like men again and stand up for their rights, instead of behaving like conformist push-overs.

It is funny when you take one feminist message and compare it to another and they make opposite claims!
