RADAR ALERT: This Week, We FLOOD Capitol Hill with Calls and Faxes

The past four weeks RADAR has released a series of Special Reports that document how the Violence Against Women Act violates persons' civil rights on a massive scale:

Restraining orders: According to the FBI, over 1 million restraining orders are issued each year. Half of these restraining orders do not include even an
allegation of violence. These orders are widely used as a legal ploy during a divorce proceeding.

Must- and pro-arrest policies: Twenty-two jurisdictions have mandatory arrest laws for DV cases, and 8 others strongly encourage arrest. And 33 states mandate arrest if a restraining order has been violated, even for the smallest technicality.

Primary aggressor laws: Worse, 24 states have laws on the books that discourage dual arrests, and instead rely on a "primary aggressor" assessment which amounts to blatant gender profiling and the inevitable arrest of the man.

No-drop prosecution: Many jurisdictions require prosecution of the case, even if the woman withdraws her complaint. In some cases, prosecutors have coerced a woman into testifying against her will by threatening to have the state take custody of her children if she refuses to testify.

Discrimination against male victims: It is estimated that only 1-5% of victims served by VAWA programs are males. Worse, in many cases when a man does reach out for help, he finds himself accused of the very crime to which he has become the unwitting victim.

This week, RADAR releases its fifth Special Report, "Bias in the Judiciary: The Case of Domestic Violence." The report reveals how judicial education programs openly tell judges to disregard men's civil rights, and shows how fast-track prosecution programs operate on the principle, "guilty with no opportunity to prove otherwise."

The report can be viewed at: http://www.mediaradar.org/docs/Bias-In-The-Judiciary.pdf

VAWA, and the 600-odd state laws it has engendered, is the product of a poisonous gender ideology that claims domestic violence is a tool of patriarchal dominance. But its real target is not just men, because many women also have become caught up in VAWA's law enforcement abuses.

The real target of VAWA is the family. Why? Because every instance of marital discord -- a shove, a thrown object, even a sharp word -- is now subject to state intervention and criminalization of the alleged perpetrator.  The family unit cannot withstand this assault for much longer.

It is time to cast political correctness and complacency aside.

WE WANT CONGRESS TO CONDUCT HEARINGS ON THE MASSIVE CIVIL RIGHTS ABUSES OF VAWA. AND WE WANT THE HEARINGS NOW.

Telephone or fax these Chairmen:

Congressman Steve Chabot, Chairman House Constitutional Subcommittee
Voice: 202-225-2216, Fax: 202-225-3012

Sen. Sam Brownback, Chairman Senate Constitutional Subcommittee
Voice: 202-224-6521, Fax: 202-228-1265

Be polite, yet firm in your request.

Your telephone call or fax will help stop the VAWA assault on families.

I was able to FAX Chabot early this morning, but Brownback's line just rang and rang, when it wasn't busy.  I tried at least a couple of dozen times.  I'll try again tomorrow.

I started early on the RADAR FAXes to Rep. Chabot and Sen. Brownback.

I got through with my FAX to Rep. Chabot's office early this morning on the first try.

I tried all day to get through to Sen. Brownback's office in D.C., 1-202-228-1265.  That number was busy a lot, but a third of the time it just rang and rang, but never picked up.  Finally near the end of the day, I went on line and found the following FAX numbers for Sen. Brownback's Kansas offices.  I got through and sent my FAX to 4 out of the 5 offices.

Garden City, KS, 1-620-275-1837 - YES
Pittsburg, KS, 1-620-231-6347 - YES
Topeka, KS, 1-785-233-2616 - YES
Witchita, KS, 1-316-264-9078 - YES
Overland Park, KS, 1-918-492-7253 - NO

I was finally able to send a FAX to Sen. Brownback's Washington, D.C. office this morning so now five of his offices got my FAX.

I hope others are sending their FAXes in too.  This area regarding "judicial bias" certainly deserves all the candlepower of spotlighting we can put on it.  Every FAX and phone call helps.

Here's my letter to Sen Brownback if anyone still needs something to copy and send.

Honorable Sam Brownback:

I am requesting that congress conduct hearings on the massive civil rights abuses of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and I request the hearings be conducted NOW.

Why? Because every instance of marital discord - a shove, a thrown object, even a sharp word - is now subject to state intervention and criminalization of the alleged perpetrator. The family unit cannot withstand this assault for much longer.

It is time to cast political correctness and complacency aside.

CONGRESS MUST CONDUCT HEARINGS ON THE MASSIVE CIVIL RIGHTS ABUSES OF VAWA, AND NOW.

This is my fax to them...

To Sen. Sam Brownback, Chairman Senate Constitutional Subcommittee,

As an abused male I have experience our system and how the VAWA works first hand. Men are denied services and even claims with witnesses and documentation mean nothing. Meanwhile women making unsubstantiated claims are granted protection, free legal assistance and much more. The present system ignores constitutional rights in favor of allowing real crimes to be distracted from and covered up based on gender.

After having to watch for 3 years as the system favors women and protected my children's abuser and going through massive investigations on false accusations while the CPS, Courts and police threatened me for even attempting to report abuse, it is evident that the VAWA should go away and the laws are in desperate need of change. Already a child has died in my case and the investigation took less time and effort by the system than those done against me with no attempt to even prosecute or even contact me about it. How many men are going to be abused or killed and how many more children will die while our system continues to place gender above the laws and destroy constitutional rights and families?

Please look carefully at the system and at all sides instead of basing it on gender or political correctness. As a member of an advocacy group I assure you and all other representatives across the United State of America that we are watching and as a disabled veteran I also will do my best to ensure the very rights and beliefs I fought for are carried out.

Thank you,

Thanks Dr. E.

With RADAR's careful documentation, it all appears to be adding up to quite a story.  Of course, the MSM not covering it is another issue entirely.

Exactly MRA, I have been trying to feed articles to the MSM for a couple of years and no one will touch it.  I bet if I wrote one about women who were victims it would get grabbed up pretty fast.

Great letter Q!

Thanks Dr. E! It is amazing how the press acts. I know I went to them with all the documentation from the court, the official reports from investigators, witnesses, notes and more when the infant died and their response was that it was all a "he said/she said" item though she had nothing at all against me but her false claims and her word. They also didn't find it strange a death investigation was completed over a holiday weekend when the detective was gone enjoying it. The police spent more time investigating a black eye my ex had and there was proof I was not the one who did it including her stating so and us not being in each other's presence for over a year than they did the death of that infant!

Nahh, there wouldn't be a bias in the system would there?
