The older men who are being dumped and robbed after working their entire lives are too tired to protest, the younger men don't think it will happen to them
Kyo, you are in Japan now, right? You must know about the hikikomori (99.999% boys/men) who shut themselves off from society. There are estimated to be about 1,000,000 of them in Japan. They don't want to know about work or marriage. Why are there few girls/women who are shutting themselves away in Japan? Because the system is much kinder to females.
Western media put the spin on low birth & marriage rates being that Japanese women have become 'independent'. I'd say that men dropping out of the system has a bigger influence. Why be a slave? And why be a slave to a woman who holds you in complete and utter disdain? As for Japanese women being more 'independent', most live with their parents til they marry - which can be as old as 35 years old or simply never. Talk about arrested development.
