Canadian Child support insanity

My 16 year old son has moved out of my ex wives house. He was sick of her fighting with him and being treated badly by her.

I e-mailed my ex wife to say she needs to contact Family Responsibility Office (FRO) ASAP. She just e-mailed me back and said that FRO told her we need to go back to COURT in order to terminate the child support payments. I can't believe we have to waste court time to reaffirm and already agreed upon divorce settlement!!!

I have a bad feeling about this. I can see the courts ordering me to pay my ex wife more money on order to make up the money she will lose from my son moving out. That whole transfer of wealth thing for you know the "Equal" women in our lives that can do everything men can do, but for some reason can't afford to feed themselves.

Excuse my language for a moment but; FUCKING LIBERAL BEURACRACY!! God I hate Canada more and more!!

I hope your boy tells the Court of his mother's domestic violence. Emotional violence. His 'fear' of being near her. I hope he takes out an Restraint Order.
vil, like misery, is Protean, and never greater than when committed in the name of 'right'. To commit evil when they are convinced they are doing 'good', is one of the greatest of pleasures known to a feminist.

Neither of you are quite right here.

As I understand the current Canadian rulings you must continue to pay the child support, but not to her, to him. That change only requires a simple note signed by both of you.

Getting the child support moved to a third party or to you if he now lives with you does require a court order, but the change is a simple one done in a few minutes. The family court people can help you fill out the paperwork in a few minutes.

That's what I thought as well, but the person at FRO was adamant we have to go back to court. I thought I could just keep paying the child support to my son directly, but they're saying no I cannot.

I will have to call the kangaroo.....er...I mean family court offices on Monday and find out why FRO is saying I must deviate from the agreed upon divorce settlement.

We'll see I guess.

Seems like a good idea on the surface... Child support directly to the child..  My question is, and you all know what it is, will she be paying child support directly to your son as well?

Hmmmmm

Assault,

She could also just go down and sign off on child support at the child support office.

It's as simple as signing a piece of paper, while the court order would still be there technically she's stating that she no longer wishes for the matenince office to be involved, and they do stay out of it. I signed off for 6? years when my kids dad was going back to school, the only way they would deny this is if she was on welfare (as in that case it's the welfare people getting your money not the family).

Normally, when people do this when the child is still in the home she could come back and get it reinstated (in that case she would have to go back to court), under your circumstances proof that your child is not living at home would stop that dead in it's tracks if she tried to pull something like that.
