I've always had one big worry about becoming a parent... I don't want *anyone* to get between me and my husband emotionally. I know that sounds selfish but he means so much to me; The guy's sentiments about his daughter are about what I feel for my husband. I don't know if I'd want to live very long without him.
I don't think kids "get between" the parents love for each other. It's more like a big extension of your love for each other - a personification, literally, of your love for each other.
Hard to describe without experiencing it. I would have (okay, did) never believed how great kids could be before having them. Now I can never imagine not having them.
