This is father's day.

The story on the front page of the newspaper is about a homeless single mother. She was kicked out of the house by her grandfather because she was pregnant (without being married). When she was growing up, her dad was "absent." Her boyfriends are "stupid" or "physically abusive."  A social worker describes how boyfriends kick pregnant women out, etc.

Yep, what a celebration of father's day.

This to me actually seems malicious.

Which newspaper zarby?
In 95% of things 100% of people are alike. It's the other 5%, the bits that are different, that make us interesting. It's also the key to our existence, and future, as a species.

BRIAN

Yep.

They will do what they can to take the shine off the day. Just like the FEMS try to make Valentines day into a day to bash males about "Domestic Violence" they are trying to take this day away from fathers. Everything is done to minimize the good men do and maximize the bad things some men have done.
You may sleep soundly at night because rough men stand ready to visit violence upon those who seek to harm you.

Thanks zarby.
They get this. Every name on their ...ing list.

With regard to "A thin line between getting by or being homeless".

You publish this article on Fathers Day? Why?

95% of the homeless are men and yet on Fathers Day you publish this on your front page?

85% of all suicides are men, many of them fathers driven to it by an outrageously biassed family law system. And you publish THIS article on Fathers Day?

95% of workplace deaths are men, many of them fathers risking their lives to support their families. And yet on Fathers Day you publish that as your lead article?

Do you people have fathers? Do you respect those fathers? Have you given a moment’s thought to the sacrifices those fathers made FOR YOU?

Just one day. That’s all it takes. Was it too much to expect?

So, naturally, she sleeps with them and bears their children.

To all the journalists at CCC-T who don't know to do timely coverage of Father's on Father's Day, and instead bash Father's with a homeless Mother story, be advised that approximately 70% to 80% of the homeless are men (maybe more).

I doubt such a journalistic enterprise as the Corpus Christi Caller - Times could be ran so ignorantly.  This smacks of prejudice plain and simple, gender feminist prejudice to be specific.  In the interest of fairness and objectivity, the Corpus Christi Caller - Times should do a follow up story about how Father's are routinely driven out of their children's lives by vicious Mother's intent only on having the government as Daddy, and the biological Father as a paycheck.  Additionally, one can only hope that the Corpus Christi Caller will try harder to avoid insulting its readers with disrespectful misandry, such as a homeless Mother story bashing Fathers on Father's Day.

Keep up the pressure. Keep writing the letters to the editor, they will start listenting sooner or later. The squeeky wheel gets the grease.

It is father's day.

What do you people do?

You run a story about a single mother.

Even worse, you run a story about a single mother who calls her boyfriends "stupid" and "abusive" (presumably the fathers of her children). You quote a social worker who talks about fathers who abandon pregnant mothers. You state this woman's grandfather kicked her out when she was pregnant. Also, her father was "absent."

What about the father of this woman's children. Do they get to see the children? Probably, not. This woman is probably not very kind to them as evidenced by her comments.

This woman hardly deserves praise especially on father's day. Having children without fathers or kicking the fathers out of the children's lives is hardly praiseworthy behavior. Calling the fathers "stupid" isn't either.

Even if these fathers actually deserved their unfortunate fate, why focus on them and this mother on father's day?

I did not see a single article favorable to fathers on your internet site on father's day. If it was there, it certainly did not enjoy the prominence of the article celebrating this single mother complete with pictures of her daily life. What exactly makes her worthy of praise?

What about the daily life of the fathers? Particularly, their life on father's day when they probably didn't get to see their children?

What is wrong with you people?

I was thinking about this article while deep in my meditation room.  The thought came to me in a moment of inspiration, "Those who can do and those who can't become gender feminists and blame men for all their failings."

I flushed twice.  It's a long way to the Corpus Chirsti Caller Times.
